❄️🐶 Does a longer coat really keep your dog warmer in winter? 🐶❄️

It’s a common misconception that the longer your dog’s coat, the warmer they’ll be! 💙

A healthy coat needs to be clean, dry and free from tangles to help provide insulation. When a coat becomes matted or damp, it can trap moisture close to the skin, cause discomfort and reduce its ability to keep your dog cosy.

✨ So, should you leave your dog’s coat longer for winter?

Not necessarily! A slightly longer style than their summer trim may offer some extra coverage, but the most important thing is choosing a length that you can comfortably maintain at home.

🐾 Think about your dog’s lifestyle:
❄️ Do they love splashing through muddy puddles?
🌧️ Do they regularly get wet on their walks?
🪮 Can you keep up with brushing between grooming appointments?

The best winter coat length is one that suits your dog’s needs, lifestyle and grooming routine.

Remember, every dog is different, and some breeds benefit from keeping their natural coat. Your groomer can help you choose a suitable style to keep your dog comfortable throughout the colder months. ❤️

📩 Not sure which coat length is best for your dog this winter? Just get in touch — I’m always happy to help!

Keep those tails wagging and those coats tangle-free! 🐶✂️

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – PLEASE READ! 🚧

A little heads-up for anyone visiting us between 20th–22nd October ❤️🐾

Stanborough Road, the road leading to Elburton School, may be affected by road closures. Haye Road South, the one-way street outside the school, will also be affected, so please plan your journey ahead of your appointment.

📍 How to get to us:

🚗 We recommend parking around Elburton Village or near Elburton Garage, then walking across the zebra crossing to reach us.

🚙 You may still be able to access the car park via Springfield Road from the main road, but please be aware this route could be very busy.

Please allow a little extra time to get to your appointment and thank you so much for your patience and understanding! ❤️

We look forward to seeing you and your lovely fur babies as usual! 🐶🐾

Lots of love,
Dee xx 💕

I saw a post that really got me thinking, and I wanted to share my own thoughts on this…

LET’S TALK ABOUT CANCELLATION FEES IN DOG GROOMING. 🐾

Something worth talking about, because I think it’s important that people understand why cancellation fees exist. ❤️

When you book your dog in with a groomer, that appointment is reserved especially for you and your dog. We set aside that time, turn away other bookings, prepare our equipment and plan our working day around you.

If you don’t turn up, or cancel at the last minute, that time usually can’t be filled again.

We completely understand that life happens. Emergencies come up, plans change and sometimes things are unavoidable. We’re human too, and we will always try to be understanding where we can. ❤️

But grooming appointments are our livelihood, not just a slot in a diary.

We have bills to pay, equipment to maintain, products to buy and families to support. An empty appointment can mean lost income that we simply can’t get back.

You wouldn’t expect to reserve a table at a restaurant, a hotel room or a service and automatically receive a refund for not showing up outside the cancellation terms.

So please, if you need to cancel or rearrange your dog’s appointment, give your groomer as much notice as possible.

And please remember that cancellation fees aren’t about being difficult or unfair. They’re about protecting our time, our businesses and the income we rely on.

Respect your groomer’s time, and please understand that our time has value too. 🐶✂️❤️

Let’s support small businesses and the people behind them. 🐾

🐾 A LITTLE UPDATE FROM OUR DREAM TEAM! 🐾❤️

First of all, we just wanted to apologise for being a little quiet on here lately and for not posting as many gorgeous doggy pictures as we usually do! 📸🐶

Please don’t think we’ve disappeared! We’ve simply been very, very busy behind the scenes! 🐾✂️

Since Megs left us in August to embark on a completely different career path, we’ve been working incredibly hard to accommodate as many of her lovely doggies as possible, alongside caring for all our wonderful, loyal customers and their four-legged family members. It’s certainly kept us on our toes, and we’re so grateful to everyone who has been patient and supportive while we’ve been juggling everything. ❤️

As you all know, dog grooming isn’t just a job to us — it’s something we genuinely love and are incredibly passionate about. Every dog that walks through our door becomes part of our extended family, and we take so much pride in making sure they receive the love, care, patience and attention they deserve. 🐶❤️

For those who may not know, our little team consists of me, Dee, my daughter Charleigh, and our lovely Sophie, who has been by my side for years! 🥰

We really are a little dream team, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we do together. We all share the same love and passion for our job, and although things have been extremely busy lately, we’re excited about what the future holds for us. ❤️🐾

So, what does the future look like for us? ✨

At the moment, the three of us are working really well together, and we’re happy with how things are running. We may consider expanding the team in the future, whether that means welcoming another self-employed groomer or possibly taking on a bathing assistant to help us behind the scenes.

However, we’ve always believed that it’s not about having a big team — it’s about having the right team. Anyone joining us would need to share our values, our work ethic, our love for the dogs and our commitment to providing the best possible care. We would never want to rush into bringing someone new on board just for the sake of it. The right person will come along at the right time! ❤️

For now, it’s business as usual with our little trio, working hard, doing what we love and making sure all our gorgeous doggies leave us looking and feeling fabulous! 🛁✂️🐩

We also want to say a massive thank you to all our lovely customers for your continued loyalty, patience, recommendations and support. We honestly appreciate every single one of you, and we wouldn’t be here without you. ❤️

We’ll do our best to share more pictures, updates and gorgeous faces with you all as we go along, so keep your eyes peeled! 👀📸

Here’s to our little dream team, all our wonderful doggies and an exciting future doing what we love most! 🐾❤️

Lots of love, Dee, Charleigh & Sophie

🚨 PLEASE SHARE — HELP BRAMBLE COME HOME 🚨 🐾🤎

It has now been two whole weeks since our beautiful Bramble went missing, and her family are absolutely devastated. 💔

There have been no confirmed sightings at all, and the not knowing where she is or what has happened to her is heartbreaking.

Bramble is so much more than just a dog — she is a huge part of her family and her children’s best friend. They are heartbroken and miss her more than words can say. Every day they ask where she is, whether she’s okay and if she’s coming home. 💔

We are desperately hoping that Bramble is still out there somewhere and that someone, somewhere, knows something.

🙏 If you have seen Bramble, had a possible sighting, heard anything, or have even the smallest piece of information, please get in touch with her family.

📞 If you have a sighting, you can also contact the salon on 405191 and we will make sure the information is passed on to Bramble’s family.

📍 Missing from Bittaford, Ivybridge, Devon — Tor Peek area

Please keep sharing this post, checking local areas and keeping an eye out for Bramble. The more people who see her, the greater the chance of getting her safely home. 🐾🤎

Bramble, your family are waiting for you. Please come home. 🤎

🙏 PLEASE SHARE FAR AND WIDE. 🙏

Have to put this up here because this is so true! 😩

It’s even harder when owners come back to us afterwards and say, “Please, can you get their face shorter?” — especially when it’s a breed that needs regular trimming.

If your dog has a behaviour problem when being groomed or trimmed, whether that’s fear, aggression, or simply not tolerating certain areas being handled, please understand that the groomer can only do what the dog safely allows us to do.

We have the dog’s safety, our own safety and the welfare of the dog to consider. We can’t risk hurting or frightening them just to achieve a certain haircut.

Sometimes, if your dog is difficult to groom, you will simply get whatever haircut they allow us to safely give them. ❤️🐾

A groomer isn’t refusing to do the haircut — sometimes the dog is the one making that decision!
