Post Graduate Dog/Bitch (4 entries, 1 absent)
1st – Breeze’s Parkebreeway Buckle Bunny — Best Puppy in Breed
A beautifully balanced bitch of just nine months, showing a maturity of outline and construction that belied her age. Her head is good, with a kind eye of correct colour and shape, and her ears are set low and of good leather, falling correctly to the cheek. Her shoulder placement is excellent, with a corresponding length of upper arm ensuring her legs sit well under the body, giving her a correct and upright front. Her topline is level and firm, her ribcage shows good spring and depth extending well back, and she presents good feet — tight and firm, as required by the Standard. Her angulation is balanced fore and aft. She moved soundly and freely, tracking true in both directions, and showed herself off to great advantage throughout. A very exciting youngster for the future and a well-deserved Best Puppy & Reserve Best of Breed. She went on to get 3rd in the Hound Puppy Group.
2nd – Oak & Pratt’s Michelroy Boston Tea Party by Floridgebay
A slightly larger bitch than my winner but very much in balance and well within type. She presented a nice head with well-set ears, and a good layback of shoulder. Her chest was deep and well-sprung, her topline level and firm, and her tail set and carriage both correct per the Standard. Moved well and was presented in good order. A close decision between first and second.
3rd – Adey’s Boskenna Enchanted at Rubeusbay.
Open D/B (3,1)
A very pleasing class of Beagles, presenting a good overall standard.
1st – Quantick’s Parkebreeway Rumour JW
A well-balanced tricolour dog who immediately caught the eye with his overall shape and presence. He presents a correct, typey head with a good flat skull, well-defined stop, and strong square muzzle; correct scissor bite and a kind, dark hazel eye of good size and shape. His ears are set low and fine in leather, falling close to the cheek as required. He carries a good length of neck flowing cleanly into a well-laid shoulder with a corresponding length of upper arm, allowing his forelegs to be well placed under him; elbows tight and not turning in or out. Good depth of chest, with well-sprung ribs extending well back, providing the required capacity. His topline is level and firm, supported by a short, strong loin. Tail set and carriage are correct — carried gaily but not curled over the back. He shows good turn of stifle with well let-down hocks, giving balanced angulation fore and aft. Moved with drive and purpose, covering the ground efficiently. Showed with great confidence. Delighted to award him Best of Breed.
2nd – Breeze’s Parkebreeway Wyseman JW
A tan and white dog of good type, presenting a pleasing head with correct eye, good bite and an adequate length of neck. His front construction and depth of chest were commendable. On this occasion he was slightly longer in the back than my winner, which slightly disrupted the balance of outline, and he was not quite matching his kennelmate’s movement on the day. Nevertheless, a worthy second in a competitive class.
