Buzz & Oreo made a new friend yesterday! We went to Plymbridge Woods with Olive the golden retriever where they showed her how they swim and passed on some of their ‘infinite wisdom’ for the 5 month old pup. I’m not sure how much of a good idea that is, but they were very well behaved, putting on their best airs for Olive whilst she learns to navigate the world. We had so much fun and Olive smashed swimming! We can’t wait to hang out with her again!

I’m sad to report lovely Murphy crossed over the rainbow bridge recently. He was such a good and happy boy, and I’m going to miss him so so much 😢 condolences to Murphy’s family 🌈

This is Annie the Golden Doodle and she gets the award for the most patient dog on my books. The poor girl spends 3+ hours in my company getting her teeth cleaned, nails done, bath, dried, and styled. With such a thick coat covering a large area, she takes quite some time to dry and cut. Luckily for me, she is so well behaved and stands there whilst I do what I need to. At the end of it all? She bounds around the salon and gives me lots of hugs and kisses 🥰 what a sweet girl!

Happy International Cat day! Whilst the dogs keep me on my toes, my cat Dinah loves to chill and cuddle with me, and when the dogs take themselves to bed at night, Dinah and I plod off to the bedroom to hang out and catch our 40 winks together 🐈‍⬛

My mum works in a school and she gets bitten and attacked a lot more than me

Seriously, most dogs don’t set out to chomp down on me, in fact none ever have bit me. They’ve caught me with their teeth in a moment of distress, but none have ever bitten me on purpose. Dogs will tend to do a warning snarl or snap but that’s because they do not like what I’m doing and it’s their way of communicating that. They can’t tell me to stop or that it’s unpleasant, so they do the only thing they know how.

As a dog groomer, it’s incredibly important to recognise the communication signs a dog is giving you and respond appropriately by respecting their boundaries and giving them breaks where needed and reassuring them. Communication is a two way street.

And to you doctors, nurses, workers etc: good luck out there 🫡
