🐾 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL MY DOG WALKING CLIENTS 🐾
Hi everyone,
I wanted to make you aware that there have recently been reports of kennel cough among dogs within the local dog-walking community.
Therefore TOMORROWS WALKS ARE CANCELLED (weather is not helping either)
As someone who absolutely loves the dogs I care for, their health and wellbeing will always be a priority. I feel it's important to keep everyone informed so that we can all take sensible precautions and help minimise the risk of further spread.
🐶 Signs of kennel cough to look out for:
• A persistent, dry, hacking cough, sometimes sounding as though your dog has something stuck in their throat.
• Gagging, retching or bringing up white foam after coughing.
• Sneezing or a runny nose.
• A change in energy levels or unusual tiredness.
• Reduced appetite or a raised temperature.
Some dogs may only develop mild symptoms, while others can become more seriously unwell. If your dog develops a cough or other respiratory symptoms, please contact your vet for advice and avoid group walks or contact with other dogs until you've received appropriate guidance.
⚠️ If your dog is struggling to breathe, breathing rapidly at rest, or showing blue, grey or very pale gums, please seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
🐾 What happens next?
I'm monitoring the situation closely and will be taking additional precautions to help protect the dogs in my care. I'll also be asking everyone to let me know promptly if their dog develops any symptoms or has been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case.
If a dog becomes unwell, I'll follow veterinary advice regarding isolation and return to group walks. Depending on the circumstances, I may need to make temporary adjustments to walking arrangements to help reduce the risk of transmission.
I appreciate that this situation may be worrying, and I want to reassure you that I'm taking it seriously. At the same time, I'll be assessing the situation carefully and making responsible decisions based on the risks, veterinary guidance and the needs of the dogs.
Thank you for your understanding, honesty and cooperation. By keeping each other informed and acting quickly if symptoms appear, we can all do our part to help keep our four-legged friends safe. 🖤
As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or questions.
Thank you 🐾
