URGENT – YOUNG GRIFFON-TYPE DOG NEEDS EXPERIENCED RESCUE/FOSTER HOME
We. Have been asked to help this young dog who needs to learn manners but until now has shown a lovely nature
We are desperately trying to find a rescue organisation, experienced foster home or very knowledgeable adopter for a young male dog we originally found abandoned/stray in France.
We believe he is a Griffon Nivernais (or Griffon-type). He is approximately 1 year old and around 30 kg.
He is a beautiful, affectionate and intelligent young dog, but unfortunately he is now struggling badly in his current placement and needs someone who understands behavioural and attachment issues in young dogs.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: He bit a builder who went to the house today.
We do not want to hide this or minimise it. We are looking for someone experienced enough to properly assess what happened and work with him safely. We do not yet know whether this was fear, anxiety, resource guarding, frustration, over-attachment or another trigger, and we urgently need professional behavioural assessment rather than simply labelling him as an aggressive dog.
When we originally found him, he showed a very different side of himself. He was affectionate, people-oriented, wanted to be close to us, happily came inside, enjoyed being around people and was very loving and trusting with us.
He is still a very young dog, and we believe there may be a frightened/confused dog underneath the behaviours he is now displaying.
His current family are struggling to manage him and have been told/ they are considering euthanasia if a suitable placement cannot be found.
💔 We are desperately hoping someone will give him a chance before that happens.
We are looking specifically for:
🐾 A reputable rescue experienced with behavioural cases
🐾 An experienced foster home
🐾 Or an exceptionally knowledgeable adopter with access to a qualified behaviourist
He will need a careful, controlled placement and proper assessment, not a quick handover to another inexperienced family.

If you are a rescue, behaviourist, experienced fosterer or know an organisation that may be able to help, please contact me urgently by private message.
Please share far and wide. 🙏
We know the bite is serious. We are not asking anyone to take unnecessary risks. We are asking whether there is someone with the experience and resources to assess this young dog properly and give him a chance before euthanasia becomes the outcome.
Please share – even if you cannot help, someone in your network may be able to.
