Freedom Play update 🐾

We popped over to Freedom Play yesterday intending to repair a couple of the cable drums in the play equipment.

Once we started taking a proper look underneath, it became very clear they were in a much worse state than we’d realised and were far too wobbly to safely repair, so we made the decision to remove them completely.

Unfortunately, we’d only booked the field out for long enough to carry out what we thought would be a fairly straightforward repair, not to completely rebuild that section, so it’s looking a little unfinished at the moment!

We’ve already got some huge tyres ready to go and we’re booked back in next week to rebuild the area, with ramps leading up and over to the remaining large cable drum. So it should actually end up being an even better little climbing feature once we’re finished. 🐶

We’re also really struggling to get hold of decent large wooden cable drums now, so if anyone has any of the big ones available, or knows a company that might be getting rid of some, please do let us know.

You lovely lot have got us fully booked for the next few days, so we’re getting back in there as early as we possibly can.

Sorry it looks a bit of a work in progress in the meantime. Better slightly messy for a few days than leaving something in the field that we weren’t completely happy was safe. 💚

💩 Another poo post… because apparently we still need one! 💩

We are continuing to receive complaints about dog poo being left in the fields, and honestly, it’s becoming incredibly frustrating.

We spend approximately £500 every month providing poo bags and having the bins professionally emptied across our fields. We do this because we don’t want our walkers to have to take bags of dog poo home in their cars—as some other dog fields require.

We provide the bags.
We provide the bins.
We pay to have them emptied.

All we ask in return is that you pick up after your own dog and put the bag in the bin.

We know that the vast majority of our walkers are responsible and always clean up, and we really do appreciate you. But unfortunately, a small number of people are continuing to leave it behind for other customers—or us—to find and pick up.

Please keep an eye on your dog while using the field. Even if you’re on your phone, chatting or have more than one dog with you, it is still your responsibility to know when they have been to the toilet.

It’s your dog. Please pick up its poo.

🚧 A heads-up for our Battle walkers 🐾

We’ve been made aware that there are currently roadworks in the local area, which are causing some delays and have resulted in a few people arriving late for their field bookings.

If you’re heading to Freedom Fields Battle, please allow a little extra time for your journey where possible. ⏰

We’re not currently sure how long the roadworks will be in place, but we just wanted to give everyone a heads-up so you don’t lose any of your precious field time! 🐶💚

🐾 A little poo bag upgrade at Freedom Fields! 🐾

Over the next few weeks, you’ll notice our green poo bags being replaced with new black bags from BowCo, a local company based in Hastings. We love supporting local businesses wherever we can, so we’re really pleased to be working with another one so close to home! 💛

Our current green bags are eco-friendly, but after testing the BowCo bags alongside them, we felt the new ones were a better quality — extra thick, leak-proof and a little more robust for those less-than-glamorous dog-walking moments! 💩😂

The new bags are made from biodegradable materials, and the boxes they come in are recyclable, so we’re keeping the environmental side of things in mind too. 🌿

We’ll be swapping them over gradually as our current stock runs down, so you may see a mixture for a little while.

If you like using them at the fields, please give a follow on Instagram. They’re hoping to offer our field users a discount on their bags in the future, so you’ll be able to stock up for your walks at home too. 🐶

As always, thank you for helping us keep the fields clean and lovely for everyone. Pick it up, bag it and bin it! 💚

🚨 PLEASE STOP SMOKING IN OUR FIELDS 🚨

As many of you will have seen, the Government has sent out a Severe Alert this evening due to the very high risk of wildfires across the country.

Our fields are incredibly dry at the moment. Grass, hedgerows and surrounding land can catch fire frighteningly quickly — and one discarded cigarette could be enough to start it.

Despite us repeatedly asking people not to smoke, we are STILL finding cigarette butts in the fields, and other walkers are finding them too.

We genuinely don’t know how many more times we can say this:

DO NOT SMOKE IN THE FIELDS.

This isn’t us being awkward or making unnecessary rules. It is about protecting our fields, neighbouring land, wildlife, homes, businesses, our customers and their dogs.

If you need to smoke, please do it before or after your booking, away from the field.

Please, please use some common sense. In these conditions, a tiny spark can become a serious fire incredibly quickly.

If you are caught smoking in the field, you will be asked to leave and may be prevented from making future bookings.

We love our fields and we know the overwhelming majority of you respect them. We just need the small minority who are continuing to ignore this rule to finally listen.

STOP SMOKING IN THE FIELDS.

☀️ Please remember to bring water! 💧

With the hot weather continuing, we’d like to remind everyone that we do not provide drinking water at any of our fields.

We don’t have a source of fresh, running water. Although there are water butts at Freedom Run in Battle that collect rainwater, we don’t consider this safe or suitable for dogs to drink—especially during the summer, when the water may have been sitting in the heat for some time. We also do not provide communal water bowls, as shared bowls can become contaminated and increase the risk of spreading germs and illness between dogs.

Please make sure you bring:

💧 Plenty of fresh water for your dog
🥣 Your own water bowl

Please also remember to take your bowls and containers home with you after your visit, as anything found in the fields has been left behind by another customer and is not provided by Freedom Fields.

Thank you for helping us keep every dog safe and hydrated! 🐾

Thank you to everyone who replied about being interested in our Poo Patrol slots! 💩🐾

We’re now looking into how we can set these up as free appointments through our booking system.

As soon as we’ve worked out the details, we’ll let you know when the slots will be available and how to book them.

Thanks again — it’s lovely to see so many people willing to help keep our fields clean! 💚

POO PATROL – would anyone be interested? 💩🐾

We’re thinking about trialling a few free 40-minute Poo Patrol slots each week, possibly on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

You’d have the field to yourselves for a free 40-minute slot, with the expectation that you would use the time to walk the field specifically looking for and picking up any poo found.

This would only be an extra helping hand and doesn’t replace everyone being responsible for their own dogs. Please still keep an eye on them and, if you spot a poo — whether it belongs to your dog or not — please bag it and bin it.

Would any of our lovely walkers be interested in joining the Poo Patrol? Let us know below! 👇🐶
