A Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) isn’t just a job title - it’s a professional qualification.

RVNs have completed extensive training, passed recognised exams and are registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, meaning they follow strict professional standards and continue learning throughout their careers.

They play a vital role in your pet’s care - from
monitoring anaesthetics and assisting in surgery, to running clinics, supporting recovery and helping owners keep their pets happy and healthy.

This Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, we’re celebrating the skill, compassion and dedication our nursing team brings every single day.

Poor Trevor 🐾

Trevor came to see us after getting into a fight, leaving him with a very sore, bleeding eye. On examination, Vet Rosie found multiple ulcers on his eye, along with clumps of fur embedded in the conjunctiva 😣 (The conjunctiva is the thin layer lining the eyelids and covering the white of the eye.)

Using local anaesthetic eye drops, Rosie carefully removed the fur with forceps while Trevor sat like a good boy 🥰

We’re pleased to say that, with the right treatment and care, Trevor has recovered really well and his eye ulcers have healed ✨

Fights can cause more damage than you might expect, especially to delicate areas like the eyes, so it’s always best to get any injuries checked as soon as possible 👀

May is here, which means it’s officially Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM) 🐾

Celebrated every May, VNAM shines a spotlight on the incredible work veterinary nurses do every single day. From patient care and monitoring anaesthetics, to supporting clients and advocating for animal welfare, their role is truly invaluable.

Originally launched by the British Veterinary Nursing Association in 2004 as a single awareness day, the campaign has grown into a month long celebration since 2012, giving the profession the recognition it deserves.

Throughout May, we’ll be sharing more about our nursing team and giving you a behind the scenes look at the vital role they play both in practice and beyond.

We’re so proud of our amazing nursing team and everything they do for our patients, clients, and each other 🐾💚

Meet Herbie!

Herbie came in today to get his blood pressure checked. This is a common procedure we perform for various reasons such as older patients, those with renal disease and for general health monitoring.

Herbie was a very good boy for his blood pressure monitoring ☺️

We had the absolute pleasure of meeting the cutest little miniature schnauzer! Flower was in for her very first vet visit and safe to say… she stole a few hearts 💕

First visits are all about creating a calm, positive experience and helping little ones like Flower feel safe and confident in a new environment. From gentle introductions to plenty of treats and cuddles, we like to make it as stress free as possible.

Flower was incredibly brave and curious, taking everything in her stride like a pro. We can’t wait to watch you grow little one 🥰

If your pet is visiting us for the first time, don't forget to ask us about having their photo taken with our First Visit board 🐾📸
