“Although we’ve come to the end of the road, still I can’t let go… it’s unnatural… you belong to me, I belong to you.”
Affectionately, I used to sing that song to my home boarders the day before they were due to return home to their owners after enjoying their holiday with me. Never has that song felt more fitting than it does now.
Anyone who has ever truly loved something will understand the heartbreak I’m feeling right now. Having to let go of something you love — and that has loved you back — hurts so much.
The decision to call time on the dog walking has been an incredibly difficult one and, whilst I won’t go into all the reasons here, suffice to say it has been absolutely heart wrenching.💔
Even though it hurts, and likely will for quite some time, I take comfort in knowing I truly had the best time of my life.
Dog walking came into my life almost five years ago, at a time when I was experiencing my own heartbreak and turmoil. It was never about “setting up a business” or “making money.” The dogs were a lifeline to me, and for everything I gave to them, they gave me back tenfold.
I didn’t just walk dogs — they walked beside me through one of the hardest times of my life.❤️
I will remember every single one of them always, and I thank them all for their loyalty, love, and companionship. What an adventure we had. I feel so privileged and blessed to have shared part of my life with them all.❤️
And to all of the owners who trusted me with your beautiful dogs — thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It meant more than you will ever know. ❤️
Some goodbyes are harder than words can ever explain.
But as heartbreaking as this goodbye is, I know how lucky I’ve been to have experienced something that brought me so much joy, purpose, laughter, and love every single day. The memories will stay with me forever, and I’ll always look back on this chapter with a full heart and a huge smile ❤️
And honestly, all the aches and pains, the sore and tired legs, and the walking through rain, hail, sleet, and snow were worth every single second for the sunshine, the wagging tails, the wet, muddy cuddles, the happy faces, and the unconditional love I got in return. I wouldn’t change a thing. ❤️🐾🥰
Over the years, many of my clients stopped feeling like “clients” and started feeling like friends, and I truly hope our paths will continue to cross further down the line in life. I’d love nothing more than to still visit, go for a walk and get the occasional cuddle from the dogs and a catch-up with the humans too ❤️
Thank you for everything! I’ve had the time of my life! ❤️🐾🫶🏻🥰
