Regent Court Veterinary Practice Regent Court Vets is a small, caring and friendly small animal only practice based in the beautiful coastal town of Penzance in West Cornwall.

We are proud to be the first practice in Penwith who were "Royal College Accredited" meaning we have been inspected and passed to their standards in terms of service and the standards that we offer to our clients. We are also the only Feline Advisory Bureau recognised practice to hold "Cat Friendly Status." reassuring you of the importance that we place for the specific care of our feline friends.

Its not just cats and dogs that we get to treat at the practice.

Our nurse Chelsea got to meet this lovely Rat Snip and her house mate Jet.
Rats can be super friendly and make very good pets when handled well.

Unfortunately for these two we found some unwanted guests.
Small Lice called Polyplax Spinulosa.
Luckily this is a host specific parasite, which means they can not be transferred to humans, cats or dogs.
Also very treatable with a spot-on medication.

🐾 Myrtle and Fawkes visited us last week to start their vaccinations.
How adorable are these siblings!?
Safe to say we all fell in love. ❤

These two kittens took full advantage of joining our Pet Health Plan.
Therefore saving money on the cost of their vaccination plus flea and worm treatment, which was purchased on the day.

Happy Guinea Pig Awareness Day! 😃

This is Bandit! He lives with his brother Simon and Our Nurse Trudy's family.

Here are some basic facts:

🐹Guinea pigs are very social animals and should always be kept in pairs or small groups. If not this could actually harm their health and well being.
🐾They can live between 5-8 years.
❤️Diet is key! Guinea pigs need an unlimited supply of fresh hay and fresh veggies- They can not produce their own vitamin C so this must be provided in their diet.
🌿They are very vocal- They make different sounds to express happiness, hunger or curiostiy.

This is Humphrey. As you can see he has adapted well to his extra time in bed during these warmer days.

Exercising in temperatures over 20*C can be a risk for even the fit and healthy dogs, but a much greater risk for elderly, over weight, flat-faced or large breed dogs.🐩

So stay safe, be sensible, sit back and enjoy the glorious weather.☀

We had the pleasure of helping this little Hedgehog last week! A member of the public found it with a rather large tick on his face. After a thorough health check was carried out, the tick was safely removed. This hedgehog was then placed back into the wild where he was found 🌿

Fact: Did you know that Hedgehogs can roam up to one mile a night searching for food and mates!

Placing a shallow dish of water can help keep our prickly friends hydrated during these warmer adventurous months.☀
