So, puppy Jed is probably the most chilled out dog I have ever met, but last week he was tasked with proofing his sit to the whistle and this is what's happened......very well done Jed!

The emergency stop is made up of 2 components. The actual stop using your arm and then the sit to the whistle.
The actual stop is quite easy to achieve so it tends to get more focus but then it becomes very rehearsed and just a recall into a sit.
Making sure you keep working on the sit to the whistle will ensure your dog does just that, sit to the whistle but also at a distance and even as a dog is moving away from you, making the emergency stop command much easier to achieve.

Tonight's class is right on the cusp of storm Austen. 🤞we can finish before it ramps up.
Bring waterproofs and be prepared. If it gets too bad we will obviously abandon everything and get yourselves home x

***CHALLENGE***

Here is a brilliant practice for you and fantastic for impulse control.
Set your dog in place (or just a sit if you don't have a platform)
Throw 4 dummies (or toys) at 12, 6, 3 & 9 (order not important to me).
Your dog must wait during the throws and then whilst you collect them back in. Reward if your dog has managed to remain in position for the entire time.

This rescue Springer has been extremely hard work for his owners. His high energy and high prey drive were really challenging but they didn't give up, continued my training and providing consistency.
So for anyone feeling disheartened,don't, you will get there xx

A lovely, fulfilling puppy walk with this 9 month old Viszla.
Not overwhelming, not too long, contains a bit of everything for learning and practicing and both owner and puppy are very happy, learning and growing together ❤️
