K9 KENNELS – PRICE UPDATE FROM JANUARY 2027
It’s never the post we really want to have to write… but unfortunately, here we are!
Firstly, we want to say a HUGE thank you to all of our amazing customers, both two-legged
and four-legged! We honestly couldn’t do what we do without your continued
support, trust and loyalty. We feel incredibly lucky to look after so many wonderful furry
faces, some of whom have become part of the K9 family.
Like everyone else, we’ve seen the cost of running the kennels continue to rise, including
electricity, food, maintenance, supplies and general running costs. We’ve worked hard to
absorb as much of these increases as possible and keep our prices as reasonable as we can.
We also haven’t increased our Day Boarding rate for quite some time, and we’ve deliberately
kept this as low as possible for as long as we could.
However, from 1st January 2027, our new rates will be:
Boarding – £22 per dog, per day
Day Boarding – £14 per dog, per day
We hope our customers understand that this decision hasn’t been taken lightly. Our priority
will always be providing the best possible care, plenty of exercise, attention and cuddles for
your dogs while they’re with us.
A little reminder of our opening times:
Boarding & Day Boarding:
8am – 9am
5pm – 6pm
Day Boarding: Monday – Friday only
We are closed on Sunday evenings and Bank Holidays.
Boarding customers can collect/drop off 8am – 9am on these days where applicable.

Dear K9 Kennels Family,

We have noticed a significant increase in the number of dogs coming into our care with ongoing medical conditions and increasingly complicated medication requirements. We completely understand that, as our dogs get older, they can need a little extra care and attention

You dogs health and well being will always come first and we are more than happy to administer vitamins, supplements and simple medications such as prescribed painkillers or anti-inflammatory tablets, provided they are clearly prescribed and straightforward to administer.

However, we have reached a point where we need to draw a firm line.

There are occasions where a dog’s medical needs are simply greater than what we can safely and responsibly provide in a kennel environment.

If a dog is extremely poorly, requires complicated medication, needs frequent or specialist medication, or is dependent on life-changing medication that requires professional monitoring, we may have to decline the booking.

We know this can be disappointing, and please understand that it is not a decision we make lightly. We don’t like turning dogs away. We want you to be able to enjoy your holiday, break, wedding, trip or whatever reason you are leaving your dog with us, knowing they are happy and cared for.

We also regularly hear:

“He’ll take it from your hand.”

“She’ll eat it in a treat.”

“Just put it on top of his food – he’ll never know.”

And at home, that may well be absolutely true!

However, dogs can behave very differently when they are away from home and in a kennel environment.

We therefore ask that you please don’t assume that medication will be straightforward simply because it is at home.

If your dog relies on medication to remain well, please be completely honest with us about their condition and exactly what they require. This allows us to make a responsible decision about whether K9 Kennels is the right environment for them.

We would much rather have an honest conversation before a booking than discover during a stay that we are unable to meet your dog’s needs safely.

Thank you for understanding, for trusting us with your precious dogs, and for always being honest with us about their health and individual needs.

Their wellbeing will always come first at K9 Kennels.

The best part? It’s completely hassle-free, no need to book separate appointments, we’ll take care of everything while they’re staying with us.

🌪️ STORM GORETTI TRIED HER BEST… BUT SO DID WE 🌪️

K9 Kennels took quite the beating — fences down, trees down, roofs doing their best impression of kites, and one or two things we’re still not sure where they landed. Goretti really went for the dramatic effect.

But thanks to our incredible staff and the amazing Bunclark and Roberts families, we’ve made huge progress getting everything repaired. Muddy boots, tired arms, big hearts — they’ve done it all.

We’re grateful, we’re laughing through the chaos, and we’re getting back on our paws one plank, panel, and tree branch at a time.

Thank you for your patience and support — the dogs are safe, the biscuits are stocked, and the spirit at K9 Kennels is unshakeable.

🐾 Dear K9 Kennels Family,

We hope this message finds you and your furry companions happy, healthy, and ready for more tail-wagging adventures! 🐕✨

Just a quick reminder — we are closed on Sundays! As a small family-run business, we (and the dogs!) need one day to rest, recharge, and give the kennels a thorough clean so we are ready for another busy week of wagging tails.

You’re very welcome to collect or drop off your dogs between 8:00 and 9:00 am on Sunday. If that’s not possible, Monday morning collection or drop off is absolutely fine too.

We also wanted to give you a friendly update on how we handle our boarding charges, so everything is clear and easy. When your dog arrives, they jump right into the fun — enjoying walks in our secure fields and soaking up plenty of snuggles and attention. Because they make the most of the day from the moment they arrive, we start the daily boarding charge from their arrival day.

However, if you collect your dog by 9:00 am on their last day, there is no charge for that day — just like checking out before breakfast time at a hotel! Your pup still leaves happy and tired from all the fun they have had.

Thank you so much for your understanding and for supporting our little family business. We hugely appreciate you and your amazing pups — and we promise to keep the love, fun, and wagging tails coming every single day! 💛
