Some good advice if your walking your dogs in grassy areas 🐶🐾
🌱 Grass seed season is here – and these tiny seeds can pose a serious risk to our dogs.
After every walk, especially in areas with long grass, take a few moments to check your dog thoroughly. Grass seeds can become lodged in the ears, eyes, paws, skin folds and even the nose, causing irritation and infection.
Keep an eye out for signs such as:
👂 Ear irritation or head shaking
🤧 Excessive sneezing
🐾 Persistent itching or licking
👁 Eye redness or irritation
Not all dogs show obvious symptoms. Lethargy, abdominal pain and fever can also be warning signs.
In some cases, grass seeds can be inhaled and travel into the lungs, leading to severe complications that may require major surgery.
✅ Check your dog after every walk
✅ Keep grass trimmed where possible
✅ Contact your vet promptly if you notice any concerning signs
A quick check today could prevent a serious problem tomorrow.
