The lovely Orla arrived for 2 weeks board and train recently. She's a lovely girl who could be a little unsure to begin with. After spending a few days building trust with her she's coming along very nicely.
Orla came in mainly for some tidying up, we're working on her heel work, engagement, recall and leaving distractions.

Her engagement is improving nicely, recall is becoming more consistent and heel work is vastly improved👌

Lovely to meet new clients for an assessment today, with their boy Fen, all the way from the Durham area.

Fen's owners plan to use him as a peg dog and some rough shooting in the future.
He's done a great job with him so far, then adolescence has kicked in and holes in the training have appeared! The assessment highlighted where structure, boundaries and the all important off switch is needed.
We made some wonderful progress today and I'm looking forward to working with them

It's been a very 'doggy' weekend!

Yesterday Torvi and I headed up to Northumberland for a morning of training with Tarncrag Gundogs (Fran Ardley)
Great training for the real thing and on great ground. Worked on directions, memories and retrieving cold game. Along with the odd homing pigeon helping us steady the dogs up further to flush. Torvi did great with her retrieves and flushing, some homework now is her handling skills out in stronger winds.

Today I caught up with a client and her lovely little terrier mix, Rudy. We joined Cumbria Dog Training's socialising session.
Rudy has come a long way from when I first met him, he was highly reactive to just a person or vehicle passing WAY off in the distance!
Look at him now! He's been learning to self regulate in public and is coming on very nicely. Still some work to do with him but what a massive improvement!
