It's been a busy week with boarding dogs and 2 board and train dogs.
This is 6 month old Purdey, she is here for 2 weeks board and train. We're focusing on loose lead walking, recall and engagement with some impulse control thrown in there to!
She's a very lovely young dog who's eager to learn, she's responding very well to training.

It's been non stop since arriving home a week ago. Been busy with boarding dogs, training clients and welcoming the next residential training dog in.
Ella on the left here came in for training with me a couple years ago and she now comes for holidays with her friend Mya. Their owners have kept up the training and they continue to enjoy freedom on the fells

This is the very rewarding part of the 'job'....handover day.

Jaxx worked very nicely for his owners today, he tried a couple of old tricks with them but soon found they had the same boundaries and guidance in place as I have!

It was absolutely lovely to see him working nicely with them and we finished off with a sit down in Lowther Courtyard watching the world and his wife come by! 👌

Yesterday morning Jaxx joined me when I watered the horses, I took the opportunity to work on his impulse control when car doors are open.
We have worked upto this over his stay here. He'd originally barge his way out and he'd be difficult to hold due to his strength.
Yesterday he was able to stay put whilst I took water in to fill up the horse bucket, a little out of sight at times and he stayed put.
A great thing to teach for safety and calmness

One last trip out with big boy Jaxx thismorning, before he heads home Tomorrow but not before we have a handover and make sure his owners are confident with how to work with him, maintain the training inside and outside the house and how to progress his training over the coming weeks & months, so none of his dangerous habits creep back in

Couple of photos from today in Keswick.
Popping into a few shops and a cafe of a cuppa.
He was as good as gold in the shops, taking direction perfectly when given. At one moment we had 2 dogs pass either side of us in a narrow shop as Jaxx sat. He did perfectly and stayed sat and the one infront passed rather close! 👌👌
The cafe is a great opportunity for developing resilience to stress in the environment (it wasn't packed, just a nice amount of people and a 'good energy' cafe to work in), giving him time to work through his unsureness with praise at the right time he had some nice moments of finding chill out mode 👌👌

Great time visiting the busy market town of Keswick, plenty of dogs around.

Jaxx has come a very long way from how he arrived 4 weeks ago.
He was very frustrated and reactive to the world be it traffic, dogs and everything inbetween!
He had previously pulled his owner off her feet, narrowly missed being hit by traffic and generally making dangerous choices in life.

During these 4 weeks we've sorted his heel work out and traffic reactivity is a thing of the past. We've also done impulse control work along with creating calmness in everyday interactions from thresholds to heeling off lead when other dogs are given freedom on the fell.
Dog work has massively improved and the owner will now have the knowledge and tools to maintain and take his training forward. Being able to continue giving Jaxx more exposure to the world and in doing so giving him a more rounded balanced view of how things are and what's expected in it.

I've really thoroughly enjoyed working with this lovely big guy, he's brought in more learning for me on a professional level to 👌
