🐾❤️A HUGE congratulations to Oggy! ❤️🐾

What a journey this little lad has been on in just four weeks!

At only 7 months old, Oggy arrived very much embracing his teenage terrier era — bags of personality, raging hormones, selective hearing and approximately 4,762 other things he would rather be doing than listening to his humans.

But look at him now! 🏵️

Over the last four weeks, we’ve worked on turning all that terrier enthusiasm into something positive — building his motivation, engagement, focus and, most importantly, strengthening the connection between Oggy and his humans.

And what a difference.

Oggy is now actively choosing to engage, looking to his humans for guidance and discovering that working together can actually be great fun!

But this transformation isn’t just down to what happens during a training session.

His fur mum and dad have worked SO hard.

They have practised, stayed consistent, changed the way they communicate with him and really committed to understanding the young dog standing in front of them. That dedication is exactly why, in just four weeks, Oggy has completely turned the tables. ❤️

Training isn’t about creating a robot. It’s about helping dogs understand what we want, giving them a reason to want to work with us and building a relationship where learning becomes part of the fun.

Oggy, you have been an absolute character, a challenge at times and an absolute joy to work with.

Keep up the brilliant work, little man. You are one very lucky terrier with a whole world of adventures ahead of you — and now you and your humans have the tools to enjoy them together. 🐾🏵️

🐴 JUST THREE MINUTES…

What if three minutes with a miniature pony could make a difference to how a young person feels?

A brand-new study involving 61 teenagers found that just three minutes of interacting with miniature horses was associated with:

✨ Less anxiety
✨ Less loneliness
✨ Less sadness
✨ Greater feelings of calm

And I absolutely love this because it puts some proper research behind something we see again and again with our own animals.

Sometimes you don’t need to talk.

You don’t need to sit in a classroom.

You don’t need to explain how you’re feeling.

Sometimes you just need to stand next to a pony.

Give them a scratch.

Watch them potter about.

Have a nosey sheep come over.

Or sit quietly with a dog beside you.

The study measured short-term changes in teenagers’ self-reported emotions. It does not mean that three minutes with an animal treats mental-health conditions. More research is needed to understand the longer-term effects.

Those first few months with your puppy are so important. It’s much easier to teach the behaviours you want from the beginning than spend months trying to undo habits later on!

Over the four weeks we’ll work on all the useful everyday stuff — focus, recall, lead walking, settling, manners and helping your puppy learn how to navigate the world confidently with you.

🐴 There are some things you just never forget…

We had such a magical time visiting Beech Lodge Care Home with Spirit Paws. 🐾

What I loved most wasn’t simply bringing the animals in — it was watching the memories come flooding back.

We chatted with residents about their first horses and ponies, including stories of climbing on with absolutely no idea how to ride… and promptly falling off within seconds! 😂

And suddenly those memories didn’t feel quite so long ago.

The smell of a pony. The feel of their coat. A little nose reaching out for attention. Sometimes that’s all it takes to transport someone straight back to another time in their life.

That connection is exactly why I love what we do at Spirit Paws.

Our animal visits aren’t just about meeting an animal. They’re about conversation, memories, laughter and those wonderful little moments of connection that happen along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone at Cornwallis Care Services Ltd, Beech Lodge for making us feel so welcome. We absolutely loved spending time with you. 🐴🐾
