🚨 CUSTOMER EVACUATION IN PROGRESS! 🚨

When the Scolopendra sp. ‘White Beard’ decides it’s time for a little freedom… apparently the entire shop has to be cleared. 😂

Caught on CCTV: one escaped centipede casually turning MicroExotics into a no-customer zone. 🫣

Don’t worry… everyone survived, the centipede was safely recaptured, and normal business was eventually resumed. 😂

Just another completely normal day at MicroExotics. 🐛💨

🎉 ONE YEAR OF THE MICROEXOTICS SHOP! 🎉

One year ago, we opened the doors to our very own shop… and somehow, we’ve survived! 😂🕷️

Now, we should probably clarify — MicroExotics itself has been going for 7 YEARS, but this marks one whole year since we took the massive step of opening our physical store! ❤️

What a year it’s been.

We’ve grown, expanded our range and now carry more species than ever before — from isopods and millipedes to spiders, mantids and plenty of other weird and wonderful invertebrates. 🦂🪲🕷️

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last 7 years, and especially everyone who has visited the shop, ordered from us, shared our posts, recommended us or simply followed along with the journey.

From that first opening day to where we are now… what a journey. ❤️

We’ll be out and about this Saturday 22nd August at the Duchy Plant Fair, held at the The Duchy Of Cornwall Nursery 🌱🪴

We’ll be bringing along a selection of our plants, terrarium goodies and, of course, plenty of invertebrates 🕷️🪲🦎

Excuse the dirty finger… it comes with the job! 😂🖐️

Our beautiful Orchid Mantis (Hymenopus coronatus) are finally back in stock! These incredible mantids are famous for their stunning flower-like camouflage and are easily one of the most eye-catching species in the hobby.

They’ve already been flying out, so if you’ve been waiting for them to return, don’t hang about—they’re selling fast! 🌸🦗

There’s something special about seeing a fresh brood emerge. 🖤🦇

Our Flipinodillo sp. ‘Batman’ female is doing what she does best, looking after the next generation. Tiny, armoured, and already full of character, these little mancae won’t stay small for long! (Although the one in the middle looks like he’s from an earlier generation 😂)

Who else could sit and watch isopods for hours? 👀

We’re back from the Western Invertebrate Show! 🕷️🐜

A huge thank you to everyone who came over to see us – it was great catching up with so many familiar faces and meeting plenty of new ones too!

We’re busy unpacking all of the stock (including some exciting new arrivals 👀) and getting everything organised back at HQ.

We’ll be starting to pack a few orders today, with the aim of getting the bulk of outstanding orders packed and dispatched tomorrow. Thanks so much for your patience while we were away at the show – we really appreciate it! ❤️

Our Par shop will be closed for the day, but you can find us at the show with a huge selection of isopods, tarantulas, invertebrates, bioactive supplies, and plenty of bargains.

❄️ Porcellio hoffmanseggi ‘Yeti’ ❄️

One of our proudest breeding projects.

Back in 2021, we isolated what would become the ‘Yeti’ line here at MicroExotics. Five years on, it’s still one of the breeding projects we’re proudest of.

What started as a single standout individual has since made its way into collections around the world, reaching keepers as far as the United States. Watching a line that began here become one of the most recognisable isopod morphs in the hobby has been incredibly rewarding.

Huge, bold, and covered in that unmistakable frosted white colouration, they’re a true centrepiece species that never fails to grab attention.

The Yeti will always be a special part of the MicroExotics story.

🚚 SHIPPING UPDATE 🚚

Well… apparently the UK has decided to become the Mediterranean. 🥵🌞

Firstly, thank you all for your patience over the last couple of weeks. I know the delays have been frustrating, and I’m genuinely sorry.

Unfortunately, it’s simply been too hot to safely ship live livestock and plants. As tempting as it would be to strap tiny sunglasses to the isopods and hope for the best, their welfare will always come first.

The good news is that next week’s forecast is much cooler across the UK, so shipping is back on!

Because of the prolonged heatwave, there’s now a sizeable backlog. I’ve reworked the packing process and will have a little help from friends next week to get as many orders out as possible.

📦 Dispatch Schedule

✅ 29th June – 5th July → Shipping Monday
✅ 6th July – 12th July → Shipping Tuesday & Wednesday
✅ Orders placed from today (13th July) → Shipping from 27th July, as I’ll be away at the Bristol Invert Show next weekend.

MicroExotics is still just one slightly sleep-deprived bloke fuelled almost entirely by caffeine, isopods and questionable life choices, with a little help from friends when things get hectic. 😂

Now let’s all hope the British summer remembers it’s supposed to last about three days before going back to rain… 🌧️💚
