In 2024, SageTech Veterinary and MWI Animal Health joined forces to provide the UK veterinary market with our VET-Dock and VET-Can technology.
This technology is primarily focused to promote sustainable practice by capturing waste volatile anaesthetic gases but is also promoting decreased risk of excessive workplace exposure to our clinical staff, and ensuring compliant handling of hazardous waste.
A big thank you to Alan White, Emma Hunt, Stuart White, Connor White and all the team at MWI for collaborating with us on this project. Through collaborative open thinking we have served 71 veterinary practices that have been involved with the early UK rollout.
These practices have generated 1,008 VET-Cans filled with captured waste volatile agents which in turn represents 228,701 kg CO2 equivalents, the same carbon impact as driving just shy of 1,000,000 miles in a small petrol car!
Matt Gopal, head of stakeholder engagement at SageTech Veterinary, commented “with waste anaesthetic gases representing about 20% of the total carbon footprint of a typical UK vet clinic, the collaboration with MWI is making a real difference in reducing the impact of the vet community on climate change, crucially making the working environment safer too.”
It has been great working with the team at MWI Animal Health, even though this project meant a change to their normal process, the team embraced the importance of this sustainability initiative that the veterinary market is adopting.
