Sunday School ! 📚🐾 the photo below shows a parasite called a TICK. These are more common in the warmer months and we have noticed a few dogs have picked up these new friends. Ticks can carry Lymes disease, so it’s really important to begin preventative treatments now. They can leave damage and cause irritation.

For those who were guessing. This is Figaro a Miniature Wire Dachshund, owned by Wendy. They should weigh up to 5kg and can even come in a pattern called Wild Boar. Dachshunds were bred to dig out and hunt badgers, they originate from Germany and the word Dachs is German for Badger. The smaller sizes can hunt rabbits but would easily take on a Badger without hesitation. These courageous little dogs are true hunters with a big bark. 🐾🦡🦡🦡🐾

🐾 How many Dachshund varieties are there ? Well, in the U.K we recognise 2 different sizes (Standard and Miniature) and 3 separate coat types (Smooth, Wire & Long) so that’s right there 6️⃣ Yes SIX varieties of Dachshunds. Who can guess the one in the photograph?
