Measuring blood pressure is an important part of assessing and monitoring many veterinary patients, including those with a heart murmur or heart disease. It helps us understand how the heart and circulation are working and can support decisions about ongoing monitoring, investigations and treatment.
High blood pressure can sometimes develop without obvious signs at home, but over time it may affect important organs such as the heart, kidneys, eyes and brain. Regular blood-pressure checks can help us identify concerns early and provide the best possible care for your pet.
The procedure is quick, painless and non-invasive. A small cuff is gently placed around a leg or tail, similar to having your own blood pressure measured. We take several readings in a quiet, relaxed environment to help ensure they are as accurate as possible — and Libbi showed us exactly how it’s done!
Thank you for being the best patient ever, Libbi.
We loved having you with us. 💙

Healthy teeth, happy dogs 🦷

At Medivet East Oxford we see every day how proper dental care transforms older pets – regular check‑ups, scale & polish and home brushing with pet‑safe toothpaste help prevent painful gum disease, bad breath and tooth loss.
If you notice smelly breath, red or sore gums, or your dog struggling to chew, please give Medivet East Oxford a call on 01865 250000 – we can arrange a full dental assessment and treatment plan to keep them comfortable and pain‑free.
