What is life like without a four-legged companion?

Who reminds you it’s time to get some fresh air?
Who makes an ordinary walk feel like an adventure?
Who greets you like you’ve been gone for years?
Who makes you laugh when you really needed it?
Who somehow manages to take up most of the sofa, despite being the smallest thing in the room?

A dog doesn’t just become part of your life. They change it.

They get you out the door, slow you down, introduce you to strangers, give you stories you’ll tell for years, and somehow make home feel a little more like home.

Life with a dog can be muddy, chaotic, loud, expensive, occasionally covered in hair.

I know I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🐾

Midnight blue rope dog collar, hand whipped in Carolina blue and red. This is a custom order, so the colours are the owner’s choice rather than mine. Whipping is traditionally how a sailor binds a rope end so it cannot fray, and every turn here is pulled by hand, hence the tattered gloves. Solid brass Swedish sailing shackle, solid brass ring, brass tag stamped by me too.

We’ve never had more choice. So why is everything starting to look the same?

AI can design it.
A factory can make it.
A supplier can ship it.
A white-label company can put your name on it.

And suddenly everyone can sell almost anything.

Which sounds brilliant.

Until you realise that if everyone has access to the same tools, the same factories, the same trends and the same suppliers…

we might all end up making the same things.

So Boris & I have chosen a slightly different route.

You choose the colours.
You choose the combination.
I make it by hand, one collar at a time, in my Oxfordshire studio.

These four collars are a pretty good example.

Three people. Four ideas. Four collars that didn’t exist until someone decided exactly how they wanted theirs to look.

Maybe individuality isn’t about having more choice.

Maybe it’s about making your choice mean something.
