So... finally been able to start getting back into some kind of walking pattern these last couple of weeks! Talk about weather of extremes!! Far too hot to walk for so long, and then it lashes it down! At least you can still walk in the wet! 🏆

Wow!! This is an exciting novelty so far!! Ask me how I feel at the end of the day though... 🤣 Today is my long day too! Second full change of clothes all ready! I'm in my proper wet gear now!! 🌧🌩⛈️💪

Wow! What a poem! Watching how our kids use phones and seeing people out with their heads stuck in them as they walk along, makes you think! Don't miss out on the beauty around you by staring at a screen!

Here's a poem that I wrote about us and our phones.

​Your phone is your life,
with everything stored
from bank account to music,
the photos you hoard.
​The bigger the screen,
the longer you stay,
scrolling forever,
just wasting your day.
​Eyes on the screen,
not seeing what's to be seen,
a constant connection,
with no thought or affection.
​The algorithms push you,
in the direction they please,
keeping you locked,
on the dopamine tease.
​A ping on the screen
and you jump like a slave,
from the day that you're born
to the edge of the grave.
​Common sense is faltering,
attentions run short,
three seconds you give
and leave before caught.
​Your phone knows the answers,
there's no need to think,
just ask it a question,
it replies in a blink.
​You filter your face
till the real you is gone,
just feeding the beast
from the dusk until dawn.
​You look at their lives,
so perfect and bright,
and judge your own world
by the glow of the light.
​We sit in a room,
but we’re miles apart,
a text on a screen
replaces the heart.
​The real world is waiting,
the sun’s in the sky,
but life passes by us
in the blink of an eye.
​The matrix has caught us,
the grid has us tight,
as we drown in the screen
in the dead of the night.
​The internet is full,
some false and some true,
finding out which,
is all up to you.

So.... from hedgehogs to pigeons!
This little chap was in need of some help last night. Found by my dog, Jet, who continued to alert me to his/her presence until I responded!
Today, with huge thanks, (yet again), to Animals In Need Northamptonshire, who agreed to take him/her in, under their care. Normally a bird so young should be left where it is found, and unfortunately, nature must decide the outcome, but this little fella was also injured. Injured wildlife will always be welcome in rescues. Thank you for helping our little, (almost) feathered friend. Fingers crossed he/she can be rehabilitated. 🕊💗

I love my annual returns to my feline friends! Summertime brings cat visits, and it's so lovely when you get that call to return to a customer!
Here we have Dusty and Minnie 😻 😻
Dusty is a great big fur ball of a puss-cat, who is extremely chatty and loves as much fuss as you can give! Minnie, however, is a different character altogether! She is very welcoming upon arrival, enjoys a little hello and meets you with the most loving of looks, but then she would rather have her space back, so she can watch and ponder! Both lovely puss-cats and a real pleasure to care for! 💗🐾🐾

These two were so happy to be back together this week, after Howard enjoying his holidays in the sea at Cornwall! You were missed by your pals Howard, look at Lola's delighted face! But what fun you had whilst away! Howard found his swimming legs! What a hound! 💗🌊🐾🐾

So.... exciting night tonight! Here at Penny's Paws we cater for all sorts of animals; big, small, and sometimes prickly!! Meet Houdini! 🦔 Houdini was brought into Hedgehog Lodge Rescue, very small and underweight, and has been under the excellent care of Gemma (Ragnar and Lagertha's mum), whilst building himself up to return to the wild! Tonight was release night! I'm very proud to have been able to be a small part of his progress as he was released into my garden this evening! What an honour! Wishing Houdini all the very best on his new voyage, and hoping he may use the feeding station provided, whilst he finds his new paws!! 💗🦔💗🦔💗
