Don't normally share things like this on my work page - but I hadn't heard of Alfies Squad until my friend found them useful recently under the most devastating circumstances.
Many of the bigger national charities only offer generic helplines or advice sheets and there's surprisingly little face to face support available, especially for under 18s.
Even if you can't donate, I thought it was worth sharing so more people know about them (even if you'll hopefully never need them)
As many of you know, I lost my son to su***de in June. In the painful weeks that followed, finding support for my two younger children felt impossible—until we found Alfie's Squad
Set up by Alfie and his mum, Allison, after losing Alfie's dad in 2017, they are currently the ONLY organization in the UK dedicated to supporting under-18s bereaved by su***de. They operate across Merseyside, Cheshire, and Bolton, and are expanding into Sheffield.
Meeting Alfie and the team completely transformed our journey, after weeks of stress, the children felt understood by someone who’s walked in their shoes. They gave our family hope when nowhere else could—and I couldn't be more grateful.
Because they run on donations, they need our help to keep reaching families like ours.
Here are 4 simple ways you can help today:
1. FOLLOW & SHARE : Boost their social media pages to make them visible to families in need.
2. Spread the Word: Tell anyone, any school, or any group who might need their support.
3. Workplace Giving: Check if your employer has a charitable scheme or charity-of-the-year program that could support them.
4. Sponsorship - we are fundraising with various challenges starting soon! (Ideas and suggestions for future ones also welcome)
