A great day on farm welcoming a group of progressive dairy farmers from Lely Mullingar, who were keen to gain a better understanding of the management and nutritional strategies behind high producing dairy systems.

Matthew Armstrong from Fane Valley Feeds led discussions on practical nutrition and management, covering forage utilisation, cow performance, feed efficiency and the key considerations for profitable milk production.

The Fane Valley Feeds Poultry Team is seeking a Planning & Production Co-ordinator to join our growing team.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the planning and scheduling of the pullet rearing programme, including chick placements, pullet transfers and feed management throughout the production cycle.

You will work closely with rearing farms, laying farm customers, nutritionists, technical teams, transport providers and internal departments to ensure efficient operations and clear communication at every stage.

The successful candidate will help support high standards of flock performance, operational efficiency and customer service through effective planning and coordination.

💧 Ensure cattle have plenty of access to clean, fresh water and adequate airflow.
🌾 Push up feed regularly to encourage dry matter intakes, and feed twice daily to reduce spoilage.
🐄 Where practical, allow cows to move around more freely.
🌿 If grazing, choose fields with good shelter or those close by to minimise energy loss.
