On Tuesday I did something a bit different….I was on set in Blackpool filming with my daughter for a children’s TV series 🤩 🎥 🎬

There were no dogs involved, but there were chips, Blackpool rock and loads of seaside fun! 🌊🍬 🙌🏻

A reminder to keep your dogs safe during the hot weather ☀️ 🥵 🐶

🐾 Walk first thing in the morning or when the sun has gone down.

🐾 Avoid hot paths or walking in full sun and choose shady, grassy areas instead.

🐾 Ensure your dog has access to plenty of water - keep their water bow topped up!

🐾 Dogs most at risk: geriatric dogs, dogs with medical conditions, flat faced breeds, large dogs, dark coloured dogs.

🐾 Provide enrichment and calm training activities at home to make up for reduced physical activity/walks

Missing some walks won’t do any harm to your dog, but heat can!

Dogs Trust Manchester issues advice to keep dogs safe this summer

Ziggy has been working on feeling more comfortable settling in public spaces, especially places like pubs or outdoor picnic benches where there can be people and dogs moving around unpredictably.

For dogs who feel a little unsure of their surroundings, “just lying down and relaxing” isn’t always easy. If a dog is worried about who or what might approach, staying alert can feel much safer than fully switching off.

So rather than expecting Ziggy to cope in busy environments straight away, we’ve been focusing on setting him up for success:

✨ choosing quieter times
✨ picking seating with more space around him
✨ Advocating for him when people approach
✨ helping him feel safe enough to relax while still being able to observe his surroundings

And he did SO well in our session 🥹

With just a couple of people milling around nearby, Ziggy was already showing us that he is capable of settling calmly and quietly when the environment feels manageable for him.

Are you constantly on edge because of your dog’s behaviour?

Do you find yourself starting to dread walking your dog? Scanning the street, avoiding other dogs, or feeling your heart sink when one appears?

Is your dog’s reactivity, guarding, or anxiety leaving you feeling overwhelmed… or even like you’re somehow getting it wrong?

You’re not alone, and more importantly, this can get better.

I work with caring, committed dog owners who are doing their absolute best, but feel stuck, frustrated, or unsure what to try next.

Together, we’ll gently uncover why your dog is struggling and create a plan that actually fits your life so you can stop surviving day to day and start enjoying your dog again.

I’m really pleased to share that I’ve passed the Knowledge & Understanding requirements for the Clinical Animal Behaviourist role with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council 🙌 🎉

To say I’m mega happy and relieved is an understatement!! 😮‍💨

This isn’t just a box-ticking exercise. It’s a thorough, evidence-based assessment of knowledge, ethics, and professional standards, something that really matters in an unregulated industry.

For me, it reflects what’s always been important in my work, doing right by the dogs (and other animals!), supporting their humans, and working in a way that is ethical and effective.

I’m not at the finish line just yet. Next comes the practical assessment stage, where my work is evaluated in depth before I can qualify fully as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist.

But this is a big step, and one I’m genuinely proud of 🥰

Thank you to all of my clients who trust me with their dogs, you’re a huge part of this journey 🫶🏻
