Working hard and having great fun doing it 🐾✨

Our trailers this weekend have tackled Decoys, walking finds, split trails, aged trails contamination and assessments too! There's always something new to work on to keep our dogs on their toes!

And Well done to Rosie and handler Nyree for passing a challenging level 5. Rosie has worked really hard to sus out the decoys and it's lovely to see our training coming together.

And last bit not least, congratulations to Ember & handler Gillian for passing their Level 7 assessment, Ember finds this environment a challenge with all the interesting wildlife smells but she was amazing, and super fast! 🥵

I was joined by some very dedicated teams this morning, we threw some challenges at the dogs who worked on different scent articles, and proofed some of their foundation work.

It might be wet and miserable, but that doesn't stop us getting out with our dogs and doing something they truly enjoy. And the best part is, they'll snooze when you get in, PJ's and fire on ! 🔥

Going back to foundations, isn't failure 🐾

Sometimes with our more advanced dogs, it's easy to forget how important strong foundations really are, but constantly pushing a dog on to harder and harder trails will not build a strong, confident trailer.

The longer you spend building up skills, confidence and drive, the better your dog is going to cope when faced with a challenge.

It's tempting to want to rush through the assessments, but slow and steady really does win the race, and passing by fluke is not the same as working hard to achieve a well proofed, strong and well understood behaviour.

So don't forget, going backwards isn't failure, some sessions are about drive, confidence and understanding, not rosettes. Remember to regularly focus on foundation training and have fun with your dog, you'll be a better team for it in the end 🐾🩵

Well done to Arlo, Drift, Olive, Happy & Joy!

This evening the dogs got to work with the linear kit, and had a go at some high finds and difficult room searches. They all smashed it!

I just love scentwork and how much joy it brings to all the dogs, and watching their confidence and connection grow alongside it.
