We wanted to share a heartwarming story from one of our lovely customers who helps at a charity we are supporting ❤️
The MAITRI Foundation is based in Bihar, a very poor area of India. Its two acre compound holds hospitals and clinics for TB, leprosy, mother and baby and amongst it wanders various animals, all taken from the streets, including around 75 dogs who roam freely. There are trees and man-made shelters for dogs to sleep under.
The nearest vet is 300 miles away. As dogs are classed as flea and tick ridden vermin by most people in this part of India, even the charity staff have minimal contact with the dogs.
Jill has been visiting MAITRI since 2011 when she took two injured street puppies to them for help.
When Jill visits she takes supplies for babies and dogs, particularly dog coats and flea/tick treatment. Jill says the Equafleece coats are invaluable. Due to the minimal staff handling, the dogs live in their coats through winter. Therefore, they must be breathable to reduce the chance of skin problems.
Jill put a coat on little Jason (bottom right) a couple of years ago, then took it off a few days later to brush him. He snatched the coat from Jill and ran off on his little wonky legs (he’s severely disabled). Jill then realised how much the dogs enjoyed their coats.
Thank you for your incredible support. The more money we save on coats, the more supplies we can buy. And hopefully there will be money left for flea/tick treatments to add to the parcel too.
And THIS is what it’s all about ❤️❤️🩹
Thank you Jill for your lovely words.
