✨️Off-Lead Training✨️

Off-lead training is about so much more than letting your dog run free!

It’s about engagement, building trust, developing a reliable recall coupled with a relaxed heel, encouraging focus around distractions, and teaching our dogs to stay connected with their handlers, even when there are other dogs and people around.

See a few short clips cobbled together below, of a few of our learning sessions, they all did a great job.👏❤️🐾

Great practice with distractions but in a safe & controlled environment sets you up for the real world.

Here we are helping dogs and handlers build confidence together, one step at a time!

Remember, a reliable recall doesn’t happen overnight. It takes patience, consistency and plenty of positive reinforcement. 🦴🐾

At PPDT, we train for real life safely!

✨️Club/Group Training or 121?✨️

Training 1-to-1 can be useful, especially for dogs with specific behavioural issues, but group training offers real-life distractions and learning to work around other dogs and people in a safe environment.

Group training can be so valuable when...
🔸️Learning around distractions – Your dog learns to listen while other dogs, people and activities are happening around them.
🔸️Dog neutrality – They learn that seeing another dog doesn't automatically mean they need to greet, play or react.
🔸️Better generalisation – Dogs don't automatically understand that a behaviour learned in your kitchen also applies at the park, training field or around other dogs.
🔸️Different people & dogs – Your dog learns that commands and expectations remain the same regardless of who or what is around.
🔸️Builds confidence – Controlled exposure to new environments can help dogs become more comfortable and focused.
🔸️Handler skills – Owners learn to read their dog and manage distractions rather than only training when everything is quiet.
🔸️Progression & motivation – A structured club environment gives you clear goals and opportunities to progress through training levels.

121 training definitely has its place, particularly for dogs needing extra support, specific behavioural challenges or dogs that initially find groups overwhelming.

But for most dogs, learning to focus on their owner when the world around them is happening is a huge part of good training.

The aim isn't simply to have a dog that listens when you're alone. It's to have a dog that can listen when life is happening around them.

See a short vid of a few if our learning sessions, stay with movement & off lead work with a lot of distractions, they all did a great job here❤️🐾❤️
