🌰 Acorns are poisonous to dogs and, in extreme cases, can be fatal. Here're some signs to look out for if you think they've eaten one👇

Share this post to help other dogs stay happy and healthy this autumn. 💚

If your dog shows any of the above signs, please contact your vet immediately.

☕ Sunday morning question time...

At what point did you realise you're actually living in your pet's house?

🐦🌊 This beautiful Manx Shearwater was brought into Vets for Pets Hereford after being found in Bobblestock. These incredible birds belong out at sea, so spotting one miles inland is a sure sign they need a helping hand.

Thanks to the team, they carried out tube feeding and health checks to make sure it was strong and healthy. A couple of days later, they safely transported him back to the coast where he belongs. 💚

Masha is still looking for his forever home. He needs to be either an indoor bunny or with a female friend outside. Minimum of a 6ft hutch with a run attached. He is a lovely boy who is a bit of an escape artist and loves being stroked. Watching him binky on a morning always makes us smile. He comes with a neutering voucher and a vaccination voucher. Please come in if you are interested.

We love our rats here at Nuneaton. Rats make great pets but are a big commitment. They need to be in pairs or more and need a very large cage as they are very active. They are very intelligent and need to be played with and let out every day. We recommend insurance or a savings fund for them as they can get a couple of health problems if you are unlucky. They need a dust free environment with no aerosols used and definately no smoking. Their urine does smell so we recommend trying to litter train them to help keep smell down. The more you clean the more they smell as they remark their home. Cleaning once a week with a non scented pet safe cleaner is enough. Lots of toys and ropes etc help them keep active. We recommend a large wheel, especially for girls as girls are bonkers. 😜 here’s a video of Mollymoo enjoying her free time. She was an adoption rat that I took on with two of her daughters. She is very naughty and quite small and her daughters are much bigger and fatter. All are neutered to help prevent hormone related tumours.

Meet Jelly and Fudge our Assistant Managers doggies. Getting old now so are on Pets at Home mobility gummies. Love living in a virtual zoo at home. You might have seen Jack the tortoise in a post last year. Jenny has had a lot of issues with Fudge having, IBD, pancreatitis and sciatica and Jelly having surgeries on her patella so this gives her a lot of insight into these problems meaning she can share her experiences with customers. Jelly and Fudge both did agility. Jelly for fun and Fudge competitively. Fudge was very talented but noticed some gait trouble and after treatment it was decided to retire her although they do play in the garden sometimes.

🫧Bella had a bath and brush today and upgraded to a deshed package.

🫧The deshedding package is designed to help with the breeds who malt!

🫧We use our specialised furminator deshedding shampoo and conditioner which helps to reduce excessive shedding then once your dog is fully dry we use our furminator and zoom groom brushes to brush the dead hair out!

🫧To upgrade to the deshed it is only £10 extra and this also includes 4 extra items for you to choose from our pick and mix spa!
