Reminder re Fireworks

A reminder that the coming weeks can be vital in preparing for fireworks. By taking steps to ensure those pets with noise sensitivities and phobias are sufficiently supported we can make a real difference to how our pets can cope during late October and early November.

If you have any concerns about how your animals react to noise, then please be in touch as early intervention is often much more effective than stepping in once firework displays have started.

Fireworks can be distressing for dogs. Prepare ahead to help your dog cope this season and beyond.

For cats in England, an up-to-date microchip registration is a legal requirement.

Not only should each cat have a microchip with its unique 15-digit code, but that code should be registered on a UK database with their correct ownership details.

Even with this legal requirement, we still see stray cats who cannot be reunited with their owners, so please, double check your microchip details, or book your beloved pet in for a microchip. It really can make a huge difference.

Throwback Thursday!

A little over 9 years ago, PAWS received a glimpse of 'the future' with some VR-assisted in-house teaching.

For many courses these headsets haven't replaced good, trusty powerpoint presentations, but it is interesting to think how technology has indeed changed in that time...

Vet Training.

PAWS were recently visited by Vetoquinol, to provide "CPD" - Continuing Professional Development to our vets. Every vet must complete a minimum of 35 hours of additional learning every year to continue to practice in the UK.

Vetoquinol took a novel approach to their presentation, providing parts of it through the use of a VR headset.

This fun way of learning went down very well - we look forward to it taking off in the future!

A reminder that with Halloween and Bonfire Night both upcoming, now is the time to make preparations to help any pets with noise phobias or anxieties.

There are a number of ways you can support a frightened pet during these difficult periods of the year. From environmental changes through to supplements, plug-ins and even prescription medications we can discuss the best options available to you and your pet.
