🐾 Harvest mites are back! 🐾

If your dog suddenly starts scratching or licking more than usual after walks, especially after being through long grass, it could be down to harvest mites.

They’re tiny little mites that can be really irritating for our pups. They can often be spotted as tiny bright orange specks, especially around the toes, paws and other areas where the skin is more exposed.

Keep an eye out for:

🐾 Lots of scratching or licking
🐾 Tiny orange specks on the skin
🐾 Red, sore or crusty areas

There are a few things you can do to help reduce the chances of your dog picking them up. Give them a good check over after walks, especially around their paws and toes, and try to avoid long grass where possible.

If your dog suddenly becomes really itchy or you notice anything unusual on their skin, it's always best to speak to your vet for advice.

Happy 6th Birthday to the girl who started it all the face behind Tilly's Tails and my absolute best friend. 🐶👑

Thank you for being my shadow, my adventure buddy, and for inspiring me to turn my dream into reality. You've brought so much happiness, not only to me but to so many other dogs and their owners too. 🥰🐾

Here's to another year of muddy paws, woodland adventures, endless teddies, cuddles and making more amazing memories together. 💜

🐾💜 What an amazing group walk! 💜🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today! What a fantastic morning it was seeing all the dogs running, playing, swimming and having the best time together never gets old. 🌳🌊🐶

We honestly have the most wonderful group, and every walk just gets better and better. It's so lovely seeing familiar faces, welcoming new ones, and watching all the dogs build such great friendships. Thank you all for making these walks so special! 🥰

A massive thank you to Nicola and Buddy for Tilly's birthday goodies! 🎁💜 They're safely tucked away ready for Tilly's actual birthday on Friday she's going to be one very lucky girl! 🥳🐾

We'd also like to say a huge thank you to Ary and Brian's friend for travelling 1½ hours to join us with little Sophie! 🚗🐶 We really hope you all had a lovely time, and it was so nice to have you with us. Hopefully we'll see you again soon!

📅 Our next group walk will be on Sunday 6th September at 10:00am in our usual spot at Blidworth Woods. Pop the date in your diaries we can't wait to do it all again! 💜🐾

🐾💜 Another Fantastic Tilly's Tails Group Walk! 💜🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to today's group walk! As always, it's been another fantastic morning filled with happy dogs, lovely company and lots of wagging tails. 🥰🐶

The dogs had an amazing time exploring the woods before cooling off with another visit to the lake safe to say they all loved every minute of it! 🌳🌊

A very special Happy 6th Birthday to our gorgeous Buddy! 🥳🎂🐾 We hope you've had the most pawsome day! 💙

A big thank you as well for the lovely goodie bag for all the dogs it was such a thoughtful surprise and very much appreciated. They were all very happy with their treats! 🦴🐶💜

📅 Our next group walk will be on Sunday 2nd August, and it'll be an extra special one! Although Tilly's actual 6th birthday is on 7th August, we'll be celebrating a few days early on the walk with a little birthday party for the girl behind the making of Tilly's Tails! 🥳🎉🐾

I'm sure you can all help make it a pawsome birthday for Tilly, and we'd love for you all to come along and celebrate with us! 💜🎂🐶

❗️HEAT WARNING – KEEP YOUR PETS SAFE ❗️

With extreme temperatures forecast over the next few days, we're urging all pet owners to take extra care to keep their animals cool and safe. Older pets, those with health conditions, overweight, unfit, and short nosed animals may be particularly at risk.

🔴 Top tips to prevent heatstroke:

• Walk dogs early in the morning or late in the evening when it's cooler.

• Stick to shaded areas and take plenty of fresh water with you.

• Never leave pets in parked cars, even for a few minutes.

• Keep pets indoors during the hottest part of the day and provide cool, well ventilated spaces.

• Use cooling mats, damp towels, paddling pools or frozen treats to help pets stay comfortable.

• Check pavements with the back of your hand if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for their paws.

🔴 Signs of heatstroke include:

• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Drooling
• Lethargy, weakness or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Bright red gums
• Seizures or unconsciousness

🔴 If you suspect heatstroke:

• Move your pet to a cool, shaded area immediately.

• Pour cool (not ice-cold) water over their body, especially the tummy, paws and inner thighs.

• Place them in front of a fan if available.

• Offer small amounts of cool water to drink.

• Contact your local branch straight away for advice and further treatment even if your pet seems to recover, heatstroke can cause serious internal damage.

Please help us spread the word and keep our furry friends safe during this hot spell.

🐾🌿 Another Couple of Lovely Days at Tilly's Tails! 🌿🐾

Yesterday we were back out in the woods with the handsome Joey and Sami 🐶🐶🩵
The boys had another brilliant walk together, enjoying plenty of sniffing, exploring and stretching their legs. They're both settling in so well, and it's been lovely getting to know them over the last week 🥰

Today it was Finley's turn for another adventure! 🐾💙

Once again, he was an absolute superstar and a pleasure to walk. It's been fantastic watching the progress he's been making over the last few weeks. 👏🐶

Safe to say we've had another couple of fantastic walks filled with wagging tails, happy faces and lots of woodland adventures 🌳🐾💙
