The RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre Trust is an independent charity which receives no financial assistance from the National Lottery or Government and is separate from the national RSPCA. Each year the RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Shelter cares for many hundreds of animals as they are brought in by RSPCA Inspectors or members of the public having been found abandoned, injured or as victims of cruelty and abuse. All of our funds are raised locally from members of the public, companies and other organisations.

Remember Peanut? 😻

Just over a week ago, we shared Peanut’s journey from a frightened feral kitten who wouldn’t let anyone near him, to a little boy beginning to learn that people can be kind and safe.

And today… look who’s sitting proudly on my shoulder! 🐾😻

Peanut has come such a long way. He still has confidence to build and will need an experienced, patient owner, but once he feels safe, his playful and affectionate personality shines through.

Now comes the next part of his journey…

🧶 From an education tour to a Knit & Natter group! 🧶

During the summer, a group from Bingham U3A joined us for one of our education tours. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were inspired to start a Knit & Natter group to support the animals here at the centre.

This week, Beryl, Johanna and Judy returned to the centre on behalf of the group to deliver the beautiful blankets they have all been busy creating for our kittens, cats and small dogs. 🐾

Each animal given one of these blankets will take it with them when they are adopted, providing a familiar scent to help them settle into their new home.

A huge thank you to everyone at Bingham U3A who has been busy knitting. We really appreciate your support. ❤️

❤️ How has this beautiful, gentle girl not found a home yet? ❤️

Lucy is a four-year-old Lurcher with the sweetest, most laid-back nature. She can be timid around people she doesn’t know, but give her time to build a bond and you’ll discover such a loving, affectionate girl.

💖 385 helping hands – what an incredible year! 💖

As we say goodbye to September, our 2026 Corporate Team Building Days have officially come to an end.

This year we welcomed 46 groups and an amazing 385 volunteers to Radcliffe Animal Centre. From painting and gardening to maintenance and improvements around the Centre, your helping hands have made such a difference. 🐾

Our Corporate Team Building Days continue to be incredibly popular, and we are so grateful to every single person who joined us this year. Thank you for all your hard work, enthusiasm and support!

We’re already taking bookings for 2027 and look forward to welcoming back familiar faces, as well as meeting lots of new ones.

A very special donation in memory of Jules ❤️

We received some lovely gifts through our Amazon Wishlist for our dogs, sent by Jeanette following the sad loss of her neighbour, Jules.

It was Jules' wish for donations to be made to Radcliffe Animal Centre instead of flowers, and we are incredibly touched and honoured that she chose to support the animals in our care.

As you can see, Teddy & Minnie were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed trying some of the treats! 🐾

🐾 Peanut’s Journey 🐾

Three weeks ago, Peanut arrived at the centre as a frightened feral kitten.

He had already learnt that people were something to be feared. Nobody was able to get close to him. He hissed, spat, swiped and attacked whenever anyone approached.

We honestly didn’t know what the future would hold for him.

After a week at the centre, Peanut went into foster with a member of staff and her family, where he has spent the last two weeks learning that people can be kind, patient and safe. ❤️

The transformation you can see in this video has been incredible.

Peanut still has some fears to overcome and will need a patient, understanding home to continue building his confidence, but he has come such a long way in such a short time and we couldn’t be prouder of him.

On Monday, Peanut returns to the centre to be neutered before beginning his search for a home of his own.

Look how far you’ve come, Peanut. 🐾❤️

❤ Being timid doesn’t mean Maxi doesn’t deserve to be noticed ❤

At just one year old, Maxi is still waiting for someone to see past her shy nature and give her a chance.

She likes her own space and needs time to build trust. She may never be a lap cat, but with a calm, patient and experienced owner, she can settle and grow in confidence at her own pace. 🐾

Sometimes the quiet ones just need someone willing to see them for who they are.
