Lyra looking as cute as a button. A few more pictures of this happy girl from today’s walk. We met lots of people and a lovely couple said what a good girl she is which was nice. We also saw a few other dogs around the village whilst on our travels so practised being calm and controlled on a lead from a distance with regular check-ins. Well done Lyra! 🐾♥️🐾

Lyra enjoyed lots of fun, interesting sniffs and training opportunities on her walk today.

We walked through the village, strode through woodland and fields, encountered, horses, rabbits, tractors, people, dogs, stiles and more and to top it off a Chinook flew directly over us.

I’m sure Lyra will be absolutely plum tuckered now and enjoying a nice snooze. She thinks she has a secret life now with her dog walker but what she doesn’t realise is that I send photo updates of her adventures to her family for their peace of mind and so they can get in on the fun.

A tribute to my original crew.

Not ‘just’ dogs and not ‘just’ a dog walker.

With dog walking comes great love, great responsibility, trust, commitment and inevitability great heart ache.

Over the last 17 years we have loved so many dogs just like they were our own and look at how much fun they’ve all had whilst in our care. Sadly only a few of the original ‘A Team’ are still with us today. We miss all of our old doggy charges but their memories live on and as we know it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Each one of ‘our’ dogs holds a special place in our hearts.

We started The Canine Companion almost 18 years ago in South Nottinghamshire. Since then we have moved house (several times!), had our son and now as you know we have ‘relaunched’ in Melton Mowbray. This is why we are now recruiting our next dog squad and have slots available. The next team have some big paw prints to fill but we can’t wait to welcome them into the family.

We will always love you and thank you for everything … Reg, Max, Teddy, Cassie, Ruby, Lily, Badger, Peter, Miles, Rosie, Fleur, Harris, Polly, Lottie, Treacle, Dexter, Harley, George, Milo, Miles, Big Bella, Mini Bella, Bug, Douglas, Rusty, Juno, Lottie, Ollie, Ellie, Rosie, Alfie, Skye, Elvis, Oscar, Steve, Pip, Sheba, Albert, Loken, Henry, Harry.
