This truly broke my heart when I read the post from RSPCA (England & Wales) late last night.

How could three people get away with neglecting all of these dogs and two cats for so long?
I hope they are punished, however our animal abuse sentences are dire.

Delighted to learn of how all of the animals have since got homes.
But sad about the little one that didn't make it.

Today is the birthday of one of the founders of the amazing and truly ethical tour company Arte For Elephants ❤️
Thyra is the real deal - a woman's woman, amazing at hosting holidays for people (she actually makes people's dreams come true!),
she is a compassionate animal lover a vegan, beautiful and such a wonderful artist (Paul bought me one of her paintings of two elephants after our trip and I will always treasure it).

Three years ago I went on my dream safari to Kenya with my dear Paul - a gift from him that will stay with me forever.

So I started looking back at my photographs from that time and thought I would share a few here.

I rate Arte for Elephants 10 out of 10 and it is my dream to be a guest of Thyra's in the future, both back to Kenya and to some other countries also.

If you love animals and want to see them wild and free then I recommend you save for a safari and you do it. The memories will stay with you forever.
As well as seeing animals in the wild we were taken to visit Sheldrick Wildlife Trust -anothet dream come true ❤️, we also visited KSPCA Kenya and spent time with the rescued dogs, cats and donkeys and also we went to a giraffe conservation centre and learnt more about these stunning animals.

Animals truly touch the soul - and to be even a small part of helping them and raising awareness is truly a privilege. To see them too, safe or in their natural habitat is the greatest thing of beauty.

I really want to give a huge shout out to the fantastic Vets in the Community Nottingham who have helped me and my cats so much over these last few months.

As some of you will know that due to a number of reasons - poor health and unable to find a home to rent for myself and my cats when I moved back from Antalya, Turkiye just over a year ago I ended up finding myself in a very difficult situation.

I found myself having to live in a Framework Charity homeless hostel back here in my hometown of Nottingham. It was so hard but thankfully my girls, Saffie and Minx were allowed to live at the hostel also because pets were allowed. ❤️ This was such a blessing.

Whilst many people would be so utterly ashamed to find themselves homeless that they would hide the fact, I am proud to say that I am not one of those people.
Bad situations can happen to anyone.
The secret is to get through them and grab every blessing as it comes along.

But I digress: Back to Vets in the Community who offer a range of veterinary services at their weekly mobile clinics as well as giving donated pet food, toys, beds etc to homeless pet owners and those on low incomes.

My girls are both on an expensive renal diet and on two occasions we have received wet and dry renal cat food. We have also been given cat litter, treats and toys. The latter being of most interest to my felines!

I'm so grateful also for the medical care that my girls have received and for the kindness and professionalism from all involved.

Such a selfless thing to do to raise the plight of mother pigs being confined in farrowing crates for three weeks after giving birth.
Beyond cruel.
Can you imagine being trapped in one of these whilst you nurse your babies?
Designed to stop a mother pig squashing her babies because she cannot move. Completely inhumane.
How does she go to the toilet, how does she stretch her sore body parts?

Happy 16th birthday to my darling little Saffie - she who is so full of love but who can also give looks to kill.
The sweetest of friends, my shadow my girl, my cat child who I love dearly since meeting her when she was nine. ❤️❤️

Caring for what is considered at her age a 'geriatric cat' is not always easy. You have to be prepared for changes in behaviour, health conditions such as kidney and liver disease and at times costly trips to the vets.
Of course some animals - just like some people cruise through old age but others such as Saffie and my other cat, Minx haven't.

Saying that though Saffie is doing really good.
There appears to be no sign of her kidney disease which plagued us whilst living in Turkiye and the only medication she needs is pain relief which she takes for arthritis in her back legs.
She has become a lot more vocal and loving since getting older, there is possibly a little dementia but whilst she loves her little life we carry on with our days, a large portion of which is set aside for cuddles and another for cat nip play time.

I wouldn't be without her for the world. ❤️❤️

Incredibly sad and worrying to see so many cat rescues struggling with the influx of unwanted cats and kittens.

Please spay/neutar your cats and please consider adopting, fostering or doing whatever you can to help. 🙏🙏🙏

Cat Patrol like so many other rescues are sadly full to capacity.
They have no more space until more cats and kittens are adopted or fostered.
If you live in please help if you can even if all you do is share this post. 🙏

Here's a post I have avoided writing... But sometimes you just have to let go.

As many of you know little Clarence was rescued by myself and Paul at just four weeks old.
As he got bigger and met his older sisters there was some friction which I thought would go in time.

Sadly it just got worse. Saffie in particular never accepted Clarence and there was always conflict. As he got bigger, he decided he was the man of the house and would find it his mission to annoy the girls as much as he could each day. He even made poor Minx fall into the swimming pool one day!
We tried keeping the cats separated, we bought expensive plug ins that were supposed to create a relaxing atmosphere. They didn't work.
If anything things got worse.

The girls - both now classesd as 'geriatric cat's' were hurt by Clarence diving on them. Whilst it may have been fun for him it was stressful and painful for them, especially as their arthritis got worse.

When we moved back from Turkiye I hoped Clarence would start to mellow a little. But he didn't.
After spending Christmas together in a hotel and with no home for us in sight I decided to put him into a cattery. As soon as he had gone I saw how much happier Saffie and Minx were - and how calm our environment was.
Waiting to finally get a home took a long time so in the meantime I found somebody to foster Clarence. Once that ended another foster was found. The lovely Zaynah and her son were very happy to have him as they had recently lost their fifteen year old cat, Eddie to kidney disease.

What started out as just a temporary solution has now became a permanent one where Clarence is finally king and is very much loved by his new family.
I'll admit I have struggled to let go and I'm sorry Zaynah for keeping you guessing at times.

It's hard to say goodbye to this little boy - a cat loved by Paul as much as by myself but I'm grateful to those that helped me get him out of Turkiye and happy he has a perfect new Family.
An ex friend told me to leave him behind at Paul's complex because he would be 'fine' - but I don't have that kind of hardened heart and would never have left any of my cats behind.

Keep loving life wee man ❤️ love always from the lady that rescued you from a big scary basement. X
