🌿 A beautiful pond shouldn't just be enjoyed during the day!

There's something incredibly rewarding about sitting beside a well-established pond as the evening draws in. The gentle movement of water, carefully positioned lighting, natural stone and surrounding planting all come together to create a peaceful setting. Whatever the season, having a clean, healthy pond where your fish can thrive makes those quiet moments even more enjoyable. At AquaFanatics, we're passionate about creating and maintaining ponds that bring lasting enjoyment, not just when they're first built, but for years to come.

💧 Your pond should be somewhere you can sit back, relax and take pride in. If yours needs a little attention to get it looking its best, get in touch with AquaFanatics to arrange a maintenance visit.

🐟 Looking after an established fish pond takes more than keeping the water clear!

Every pond has its own requirements, particularly when fish are involved. Water quality, filtration, seasonal changes, fish health and the surrounding environment all influence how a pond needs to be managed. Mature ponds also bring challenges such as falling leaves, organic waste and ageing equipment. At AquaFanatics, we take the time to understand each pond individually, providing knowledgeable, reliable maintenance suited to its specific needs.

Whether you have a koi pond, a large natural pond or a commercial water feature requiring regular care, contact our team to discuss a maintenance plan.

💧 A spotless pond filter isn't necessarily a healthy one!

Pond filters do far more than trap visible dirt. Biological filtration relies on beneficial bacteria living on filter media, helping break down harmful ammonia and nitrite. Depending on the system, filters can also provide shelter for small aquatic invertebrates. Over-cleaning, particularly during winter when biological activity is naturally slower, can disturb these established communities and reduce the filter's effectiveness. The key is removing excess waste without unnecessarily stripping away the biology that helps keep the pond stable.

At AquaFanatics, we assess each filtration system individually, carrying out maintenance suited to its design, condition and livestock. Need help with your pond filtration? Send us a message to arrange a visit.

🌿 A well-designed pond should feel like part of the landscape, not an afterthought.

This style of pond brings together natural stone, gravel pathways, aquatic planting and cascading waterfalls to create a feature that works with the surrounding garden. Larger and more detailed pond installations require careful consideration of water movement, construction, planting and long-term maintenance. At AquaFanatics, we have the knowledge and passion to look after the complete pond environment, not just the water itself.

Considering a new pond or looking for experienced professionals to manage an existing one? Contact AquaFanatics to arrange a consultation across East Anglia.

🐛 Not everything living in your pond needs removing!

When cleaning ponds and filtration systems, we regularly come across a whole community of aquatic insects, larvae and other invertebrates. These creatures form an important part of a healthy pond ecosystem, helping process organic material and providing a valuable food source for other wildlife. At AquaFanatics, we understand that good pond maintenance isn't about removing every living thing or making everything spotless. It's about maintaining the right balance between water quality, biodiversity and the needs of the pond.

As we head into the colder months, it's particularly important to take a considered approach to maintenance. If you're unsure what your pond needs this winter, get in touch with AquaFanatics for professional advice or to arrange a visit.

🌿 No two ponds are the same, and that's exactly how it should be!

A natural pond is about much more than just water. The surrounding landscape, stone edging, planting and water depth all play an important role in creating a balanced environment. At AquaFanatics, we understand how these elements work together, allowing us to build and maintain ponds that complement their surroundings while providing valuable habitats for wildlife.

Let's talk Marginal shelving.....
Not only is it a great way to add planting and a little more protection to your fish from the predators that lurk around the edging of ponds (cats) but the right combination of planting can give u fullness and colour most of the year!
One of the jobs we often get asked to do is increase the size of marginals shelving to existing ponds and right now is the perfect time to get this done. If you are looking to increase your marginal ledge get in touch.

After filling in a few small cracks. (Which will happen over time due to earth movement if you have not laid real ground foundations before starting your pond) we gave it several coats of black specialists fish safe waterproof paint.
There are no fish in this pond it is purely dedicated to frogs 🐸 but their health is just as important. Once properly dry water was added plants put back and it took less than an hour for the first frog to reappear!!!!

We were called out to a pond that "had a leak" upon ariving and assessing the pond we discovered the water was dropping and being topped up daily.
The pond was concrete and we suspected that the original coating from 15+ years ago when it was built had finally lost it's tough waterproof layer.
So we booked it in for a quick drain down, deep clean, and resealing.
Come back tomorrow to see the finished result....

Is your pond getting the attention it deserves? 💧
Even a small garden pond can benefit from a little professional maintenance. Over time, debris, sludge, algae and blocked pipework can affect water quality, restrict circulation and put unnecessary strain on your equipment.
This recent pond is a great reminder that what you see on the surface doesn't always tell the whole story. Getting underneath the surface allows us to identify potential problems, clean where needed and help keep everything running as it should.
At AquaFanatics, we provide professional pond maintenance across East Anglia, from small garden features to large ponds and lakes.
🐟 Healthy water. Reliable equipment. A pond you can enjoy.
