POV: you get a puppy and it changes your life 😍🐾

5 years ago, when I got my spaniel, I knew my life would change but I don’t think I realised just how much.

I knew I’d have a dog to walk, train, cuddle and take on adventures. But now I spend my weekends at agility completions, scent workshops or long walks for her 🐾

I didn’t know she’d change the way I spent my days, I wanted a better lifestyle for myself and to help other dog owners. That little chaotic spaniel led me to learn about training, behaviour and how dogs learn. She made me want to understand her better, which turned into studying, courses, training and eventually building a business around dogs.

Now I get to spend my days walking dogs, training dogs, helping puppy parents and doing something I genuinely love.

All because one little spaniel came into my life 5 years ago 🥹💜

If you live in or around Norwich and fancy trying something a little different, come and give scent detection a go 🐶

Scent detection is a brilliant way to let your dog use their nose and natural sniffing skills while working together as a team. It’s mentally stimulating, confidence building and, most importantly, lots of fun!

You don’t need a working dog or any previous experience, just a dog who loves to sniff 🐾

Over the course, we’ll build up the foundations of scent detection and work towards your dog searching for a target odour, with plenty of fun along the way.

Wowwwee 🤩 what a fantastic week to finish an incredible course with the Robert Hewings and officially becoming a Scent Detection Instructor 🐾👃🏼

Before starting this course, I spent a lot of time looking at different ways to train in scent detection. So many courses were online or only a few days long, which just wasn’t what I was looking for.

This practical, hands on course was spread over three weeks throughout the year, and it has been incredible from start to finish! The knowledge that Karen, Rob, Ben, Sam and the other instructors bring to this course is amazing! From operational police dog work, PhDs, pet dog scent classes these guys really know their stuff and shared all they could with us over the year.

One of my favourite parts has been watching Naboo progress from having absolutely no idea what gun oil (our target odour) was, to us completing blind searches together. Watching her learn, problem solve and become more confident has been amazing. I’m so proud of my little spaniel 💜 (plus being pretty chuffed with scoring 98% on our exam 🥳)

A huge thank you to my amazing team members throughout these weeks. Thank you for the support, insight, motivation, and for making every session so much fun. I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better group to learn alongside. Plus, watching all of your dogs learn alongside us has been fantastic 🤩

I’ve learnt so much, come away with a whole new set of skills and I’m SO excited to bring scent detection into Wag Trail & Train!
