Top tip of the day.

Your dog might show you all the signs of hating the rain, when you ask them to go for a toilet while it’s raining. But trust us when we say, if you take them for a walk in the rain, they will love it as much or even more when it’s raining.

The rain brings more smells out of the ground, woods and paths, new sounds it’s all a brilliant opportunity.

As a human walking your dog in the rain, “you will dry”. Enjoy the time you have with them.

🐾 NOVA K9 TRAINING — TIP OF THE DAY 🐾

🎆 Helping Your Dog Cope With Fireworks

Fireworks can be terrifying for some dogs. The sudden bangs and unpredictable noises can trigger fear and anxiety — but you can help your dog become more comfortable with them. 🐶❤️

One useful technique is gradual desensitisation.

🎧 Find a recording of fireworks on YouTube, or play suitable sound effects through an Alexa or speaker.

🔊 Start VERY quietly. The sound should be low enough that your dog barely notices it.

🐾 While the sound is playing, keep things calm and positive. You can reward relaxed behaviour with treats, play or praise.

📈 Over multiple sessions, gradually increase the volume — but only while your dog remains relaxed.

⚠️ If your dog starts showing signs of fear or stress, turn the volume back down. Don’t force them to listen at a level they’re uncomfortable with.

The aim isn’t to make your dog “put up with” fireworks. It’s to gradually teach them:

“That noise isn’t something I need to worry about.” ❤️

💡 Top Tip: Don’t wait until Bonfire Night to start! Begin practising well in advance so your dog has plenty of time to build confidence.

Tip of the day

When you start thinking about getting a family pet, dogs are normally the first thought.
Please take into consideration, the time and effort needed to welcome a puppy into the family.
Starting training early and well structured will be the key to success.

This is something we pride ourselves with doing at NovaK9training. If this is something you are thinking about, reach out, ask us questions. We are here to help and guide. If you want a puppy lesson, drop us a message for information.

A dog isn’t just a dog, it’s a family member. They may only be in a part of your life, but remember you are their whole life.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Tip of the day.

Remember when you’re training your four legged friend, this is their first attempt at life, just like yours. Don’t be so harsh. Be kind and use it as a training opportunity. Mistakes are good learning experiences.

If you need help or encouragement, we are always here to listen and support.

Enjoy the journey.
