Edition Dog Live 🎾
Last weekend, I got to tick off a wish list item and attend Edition Dog Live. It was a fantastic opportunity for learning and absorbing so much information from some of the industry leading professionals from scent work, canine massage, training, enrichment and so, so much more.

I’ve come back with so much information and knowledge, I can’t wait to share this with the team and see if we can further improve the services we provide for your pets. Events like this reignite our passion and fuel us to do better wherever possible and I’m certainly feeling the boost!

What makes Edition Dog of particular interest to me is that everything is wellbeing-led, and promotes proactive, holistic care for our most loved companions which is exactly what Good Dog is all about.

Friends, we need your help.

One of our own, little Lenny, is currently fighting for his life following a fast-acting, violent illness last week. The vets are treating him, and believe it is a variation of Seasonal Canine Illness.

Please can you share this far and wide, and if possible donate to help Amber bring Lenny home.
We appreciate any support you may be able to give in this incredibly anguishing time.

Stay safe fur friends 🐾

Meet Mr Logan 🩵

Logan has just moved into our catchment and is settling in well, learning all his new routes and meeting some new friends really soon.

Only problem is he’s so pretty (and he knows it), so he catches the eyes of all passersby which makes for lots of extra fusses and admiring. It certainly boosts his ego!

Last week we said goodbye to a very special boy. My boy, Henry 🌈

Henry was so much more than my dog. He was the heart of so much of what Good Dog became, particularly in the early years, when he quietly helped countless rescue and nervous dogs find their confidence. So much of what I believe about rescue dogs — and my absolute belief that they deserve a second chance — was shaped by Henry.

He was the most wonderful companion, both to me and to so many people who knew him, and the very best dog for a child to call their first. He was simply just grateful for his life with us. He was a warrior, tackling extensive health problems over the years without ever losing the essence of who he was. Even at the very end, he was undeniably Henry. I will take great comfort from that.

For more than a decade, he was my constant. He was beside me while I worked and on walks, and beside me through some of the hardest moments of my life. He gave me motivation when I needed it and comfort when I didn’t know I needed it.

There is a huge hole where he should be.

Dogs are never “just dogs”, and Henry was never anything less than my most precious love, my soul dog, and his pawprints will be all over my life and Good Dog forever.

Thank you, Henry. For helping so many dogs, for teaching me so much, and most of all, for being my boy. Until we meet again, run free ❤️

Foxtails 🌾 The arch nemesis of dog owners!

These may just look like wild grass, but these can cause significant harm to your pets. They have spiky points and a coarse texture that acts like a screw and literally works itself into your pets skin.

Every year we have dogs needing surgery to remove these from their feet, armpits or worse ears and nose.

If you have a pet, including cats that roam, please check inbetween their toes, legs and armpits, and ears regularly - especially if you have a blonde, curly/dense coated pet. They’re crafty at hiding!

If you find one that has broken the skin but you can pluck it away, ensure you wash the area thoroughly and monitor for signs of inflammation and infection.

We’re really close to hitting 50 Google reviews, can you help us get there? 📝

These help others have confidence to get in touch, and mean a lot to us, as we can learn so much from what people like and value about our services.

If there is anything that we can improve on, or if you have any suggestions for us, please let me know so that we can work to make Good Dog even better for all our customers and their furry pals! 🐾

💭 Henry’s Final Thought for the Week

The world can feel very busy sometimes.

When that happens, I recommend:

A walk with a friend.

A good sniff.

A patch of sunshine.

Something tasty.

And a nap.

Most problems look a little smaller afterwards.

🍪 Henry’s Street Snack Society 🍪

Today’s discovery:

One abandoned chip.

My human said:

“Leave it.”

I said:

“I found it.”

She said:

“Leave it.”

I said:

“Finder’s keepers.”

The matter is now resolved.

Daisy's for days! 🌼

The dogs have been loving frolicking in all the long grasses and wild flowers - just make sure you're keeping an eye out for pesky ticks.
