🌾🐾 Grass Seed Warning for Dog Owners 🐾🌾

Grass seeds may look harmless, but they can be extremely dangerous for dogs—especially during the warmer months.

This photo was taken this morning from a Cocker Spaniel’s ear… and as you can see, it was dangerously close to entering the ear canal 😳 Once inside, grass seeds can travel deeper into the body, causing pain, infections, and in some cases requiring sedation or surgery to remove.

🚨 Common areas to check:
• Ears
• Paws (between toes)
• Eyes
• Armpits and groin
• Coat and skin folds

💸 Vet treatment for grass seeds can be costly, often ranging from consultations and medication to procedures under sedation—so early detection is key!

Please check your dog thoroughly after every walk, especially in long or short grass. A quick check can prevent a lot of discomfort and expense ❤️🐶

🌡️🐾 Hot Weather Update from Fresh Pets Grooming 🐾🌡️

I started grooming just before 8am this morning, and by 10:03am the temperature had already reached 30.4°C… just minutes later at 10:10am, it climbed to 31°C in the back of the van 🥵

With temperatures rising so quickly, I’ve made the decision to close for the rest of today to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both the dogs and myself ❤️🐶

I’ll be in touch as soon as possible to rearrange any cancelled appointments—thank you so much for your understanding and support 🙏

On a positive note… next year we’ll be fully prepared with an air conditioning unit in the van! ❄️☺️

Milo isn’t a big fan of grooming, so we keep things simple and comfortable with a short, all-over clip ✂️ Keeping his groom low-maintenance helps him stay relaxed and happy.

To make the experience even more stress-free, Milo’s owner gives him a bath the day before his appointment—this really helps him stay calm during his groom with me 😊

Every dog is different, which is why all of my grooms are tailored to suit each individual pup’s needs ❤️

Due to the heat again this week some appointments may need to be moved 🤦‍♀️

I have been searching relentlessly for an air con unit but most places are out of stock.

I am starting work much earlier in the mornings to try and get as many dogs as possible groomed before the van becomes unsafe for the dogs and myself.
