Bio security message for all attending SLEC

Due to the recent outbreak of Strangles in Cheshire, we’d like to remind everyone of the importance of good biosecurity — especially if you ride at or visit more than one yard

Things to remember ⬇️⬇️

🔷Change your clothes between yards

🔷 Clean your boots thoroughly~
Remove all visible dirt and manure and disinfect your boots before visiting another yard. Pay particular attention to the soles and treads.

🔷Wash your hands~
Wash your hands thoroughly between yards, particularly after handling horses, tack, buckets or other equipment.

🔷Don’t share equipment between yards~
This includes riding hats, gloves, etc. All MUST be disinfected between yards

🔷Consider the order in which you visit yards~
Visit low risk yards first (those with no confirmed or suspected cases)

🔷Don’t visit other yards if you have been exposed to a suspected or confirmed case ‼️

Strangles can spread not only through direct contact between horses, but also indirectly via hands, clothing, footwear and equipment. This means that people moving between yards can unintentionally carry infection from one premises to another.

Please can we ask all clients to follow the above to help us protect our horses and others!

Any questions, please do get in touch!

Thank you for your co-operation,
SLEC 💙

A little shout out to our gorgeous Foxy 💙

It’s all about being part of the community and Foxy from Sandy Lane is just that.

Foxy joined the Sandy Lane Team in 2022 and has been firm favourite amongst the clients and staff ever since 🐴🩷
Foxy will turn her hoof to pretty much anything; RDA, dressage, jumping and even visiting a local care home to see the residents whom were still horse mad! 🥰

A funny fact about Foxy is that she loves to wee in the arena (we guess she doesn't like to get her bed dirty, for napping later on in the day)! 😂

Foxy is also a cuddler, all the coaches and clients get one at the end of their lesson!
