It’s taken me a while to be able to type out these words as it has truly hit hard the news I received over a week ago. Little Annie has sadly passed away and has now gained her angel wings 🪽

Annie was my very first client at Heart & Hound and for that I will be forever grateful to not only Annie’s family but to Annie herself for being such a wonderful dog to take care of and love like my own 🥹

I will forever cherish every walk/ visit I spent with the little lady through Winter, Spring and then Summer ☀️ from Christmas, to Valentine’s Day and then to Easter 🐣

I will forever miss Annie’s floppy ears, her gorgeous sweet smile, her messy bed head from when she’s been in a very deep snooze, her little bark and her little trot she does when she’s on a mission following a scent on a walk 🥺

As small as Annie was she had such a huge personality and she was so very loved by everyone ❤️

Annie always got compliments on walks and people loved how adorable she was. She was honestly a wonderful girl and it breaks my heart that I’ll never be able to see her again 😭

This post contains Annie’s very first photo I took to the very last, it includes her in silly headbands, rolling around on the grass, having a little bark, smiling loads, her in her perfect little red jacket, getting some fuss and out for a plod 🫶

The time we have with our pets is never going to be enough but that’s why we need to make their time on this earth the best it can possibly be as we are their entire world 🌍

Hug your pets a little longer today for Annie 🖤

Everyone meet Jack mine and my partners Foster dog. He’s a 1 year and 3 month old Romanian Rescue dog. He’s had a bit of a rough start in life and has now had 2 homes in such a short amount of time 😔

We previously had him on foster for 4 months after he had only spent a week in his very first home. After me doing some training with him he was ready to then find his forever home 🏡

Onto the next home - he spent 2 months there and sadly got surrendered again 💔

A bit about Jack:

He is looking for a home with children over the age of 14+, a home with NO cats or small furries, he CAN live with other dogs as long as there’s a successful meet! Preferably a home that’s not in a busy area as he can find the world a bit overwhelming but is slowly learning it’s not all as scary as it seems ❣️

Likes:

•Jack is a real cuddle bug and if you have a spot on the sofa then he’s going to be your best friend forever!
•He loves carrots, steak, strawberries, Greek yogurt, tea, malted milk biscuits and he lovesss natural chews ☺️
•loves to go out on adventures especially through the woods 🌲
•playing with his toys - squeakier the better 🤣
•playing with other dogs (that he knows after introductions)

He truly is a wonderful dog once he knows you 🫶

Dislikes:

•Jack is a typical young boy who doesn’t like being told no, he can get a little barky/nippy but nothing aggressive!
•Loud noises
•Strangers approaching him
•baths
•cats
•scooters/bikes

Walks:

Jack has gone a bit backwards on his training but it’s getting worked on again!

•He will pull on the lead and is strong unless walked on a halti.

•He’s now got into the habit of laying down when he sees other dogs but thats getting worked on!

•He is reactive to strangers if they walk in his direction and will lunge/bark

•will react to dogs if they react first

•he will happily walk with other dogs (once he knows them) and loves the company

Thank you for reading this (I know it’s very long), if you or anyone you know could be interested in Jack please let me know or equally contact the rescue Pawprints To Freedom. They are a registered charity (number 1194754) that you can find either on google or Facebook

July so far… 🥰

What a lovely month it’s been already! I’ve enjoyed some beautiful hacks, early morning walks before the heat, plenty of cuddles, and lots of drop-in visits to keep everyone happy and comfortable during the warmer days 🐴🐶🐱

There have even been a couple of house sits, a little bit of sunbathing (where possible! ☀️), and of course, lots of silly faces along the way! 😂

And finally… swipe to the last photo to see my own gorgeous pup, who couldn’t miss out on making an appearance! 🫶

I have also been slowly converting all of my client information from paper form onto a brand new app which I can’t wait to use once it’s all set up 😁

I can’t wait to see what the rest of July has in store! 🖤🐾

Recap of June 🩷

I am going to be better at posting instead of just doing stories from now on I promise 😆

June consisted of Ponies, Hacking out, Puppy visits, Solo & Paired Dog walks, Drop in Visits, Cat Visits, changes in the weather, coats on, coat off, T-shirt & shorts on along with many many cuddles from all your wonderful furbabies 🫶

It’s been so lovely welcoming new faces, catching up with familiar ones, and spending lots of time with all of my wonderful regulars. I genuinely have to pinch myself sometimes that this is what I get to do for a living 🥰

Every Horse, Dog, and Cat I care for holds a special place in my heart. No matter their size or personality, I truly adore them all and never take for granted the trust you all place in me 🐴🐶🐱

Thank you for supporting my little business and for allowing me to spend my days doing something I absolutely love. It means more than you’ll ever know 🖤🐾

Welcoming Porter the Collie x Corgi to the Heart & Hound family 🖤🐾

This adorable little man joined me last week for some drop in visits whilst we were having the Heatwave ☀️

He is such a funny character and lovessss getting as many belly rubs as he possibly can! He deserves lots 🥰!!

Porter is obsessed with his bone that stays out in the garden and is always on the hunt for it as soon as he gets let out 🤣

He is such a little cuddle bug and I hope to see him again soon 🫶

He even has his own instagram account so be sure to check it out .porter 🐾

Hot weather exercise guide for horses ☀️

We often see posts regarding dogs struggling in the heat but horses do too, especially during exercise, travelling or standing in direct sunlight. High temperatures and humidity can increase the risk of dehydration, heat stress and heatstroke.
Under 20°C
Suitable for normal exercise with sensible management and plenty of fresh water.
20–25°C
Reduce intensity or duration where needed and include regular walk breaks.
25–30°C
Avoid strenuous work. Keep sessions short and light, ideally early morning or later in the evening.
Over 30°C
Avoid ridden exercise where possible and focus on keeping your horse cool and hydrated.

Cooling tip:
Research by Dr Joe Pagan and the team at Kentucky Equine Research found that continuous application of cold water is the most effective way to cool horses down. There’s no need to scrape the water off between applications so keep the cold water flowing to help reduce body temperature as efficiently as possible.

☀️ With the warmer weather among us especially this Bank Holiday weekend, please remember to keep your furry friends cool and safe ☀️

•Avoid hot pavements — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws
• Never leave pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes
• Dogs do not want to come to the pub to “enjoy the sunshine” it’s dangerous and silly!!

Here are a few things you can provide to help keep your dogs safe, comfortable and cool 💛

❄️ Cooling mats
🧊 Frozen treats or ice cubes in water
💧 Plenty of fresh drinking water
🌳 Shady areas to rest and plenty of time for a rest
🛁 Cooling towels or a paddling pool
🏡 Good airflow indoors with fans or open windows
🐾 Early morning or evening walks when temperatures are lower

Remember — dogs can overheat very quickly, especially older dogs, flat-faced breeds and puppies.

Also be careful with hose pipes as the water may come out boiling hot if directly in the sun!!!

Stay safe, stay cool & enjoy the sunshine safely with our four-legged family members 🐶🐱

Welcoming Rufus to the Heart & Hound family 🖤🐾

Where are my collie lovers at 🫶?

I have had the pleasure of walking Rufus this week whilst his owners were meant to be going on holiday! Unfortunately they didn’t end up going but still wanted me to walk him ☺️

He is absolutely ball and stick mad, sometimes he has trouble deciding which one he wants 😆, it’s always both!

Whenever there’s an opportunity Rufus is straight in some water and loves a paddle in a stream 😊

We done 1.5 hour walks each day and even then he still wanted to chase after the ball 🤣

He has been such an angel and I hope to see him again soon!

Welcoming Sully (Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy) & Arya (Siberian Husky) to the Heart &
Hound family 🖤🐾

Sully being a puppy is still new to life and is learning the steps from his big sister Arya! Sully is a big goof ball which is probably the best way to describe him 😆

Arya loves an adventure around the woods and is also very good at spotting any squirrels or deers that tend to make an appearance on every walk 🤣 - she sometimes stands on two legs thinking she can reach the squirrels in the trees 🤣

This pair are so loveable and enjoy lots and lots of fuss along with many treats! Also found out today that Sully gets very hyped up from a towel dry whilst Arya looks at him with embarrassment 🤣

So far I’ve been walking them for a couple of weeks and my love for them grows each time I see their wonderful faces 🫶
