What an incredible 12 days it’s been — truly an unforgettable experience!
I had the pleasure of caring for 9 four-week-old puppies, their mum, 2 cats, a kitten, and even a snake! It was definitely hard work, but I loved every single moment.
During the stay, mumma dog unfortunately became very poorly and had to be admitted into critical care. Thankfully, being first aid trained meant I was able to spot the signs quickly and get her the urgent care she needed. After 6 strong days in critical care — along with daily visits from me — I was so happy to finally bring her home.
The puppies grew so much over the 12 days and certainly found their voices! They were an absolute joy to care for and never failed to keep a smile on my face. One little pup, the runt of the litter, developed some congestion but responded brilliantly to antibiotics and proved just how strong she is.
The cats and kitten were incredibly affectionate and wanted nothing more than cuddles and attention — such snuggly little companions! Even the snake, despite not being my usual favourite, was calm and content with daily fresh water and gentle handling.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to care for this beautiful little family. Experiences like this continue to grow my knowledge, skills, and passion for animal care every single day.
