Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday
Here’s just a few tips that are really helpful to know when the weather is getting warmer ☀️

To cool a dog down fast, prioritize "Cool First, Transport Second": immediately move them to the shade and thoroughly douse their chest, stomach, and the inside of their thighs with cool (but not freezing) water. Maximize evaporation by creating airflow with a fan or air conditioning.

Steps to Cool a Dog Safely & Rapidly

• Stop all activity: Move the dog out of the sun and onto a cool floor, ideally in an air-conditioned room or car.

• Apply water to the right spots: Do not cover them with a wet towel, as this can trap heat and act like a sauna. Instead, actively pour water on their stomach, armpits, and groin where the skin is thin.

• Use a fan: Turn an air conditioner on high or use a fan blowing directly on the wet dog to trigger rapid evaporative cooling.

• Offer drinking water: Provide small, frequent amounts of fresh drinking water, but do not force them to drink.

• Contact a Vet: Severe overheating (heatstroke) is life-threatening. Always call your local vet immediately for guidance while you are cooling them down.

What to Avoid

• Never use ice-cold water or ice baths: Extreme cold can cause blood vessels to shrink, which actually traps hot blood inside the dog's internal organs.

• Avoid pouring water over their back: Water will simply run off their thick coat, and it can actually create a warming, humid "sauna" effect.

• Never leave them unattended in a car: Cars heat up dangerously fast, even with cracked windows. If you must transport them to a vet, ensure the vehicle's air conditioning is running at full blast #𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐕𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐬
