Prepare to go ‘awww’…🥺

I will find it so difficult to let this one leave my taxidermy workshop, he’s just THE cutest bundle of adorable I have ever had the pleasure of working with! 🤎🤍🤎

A very apt addition for Easter too, this little Roe fawn is born again after sadly being found deceased in the woods, abandoned by his mother.

I hope everyone enjoys the Easter break - whatever you believe in, it’s hard to ignore the shift in the air, the light returning and abundant life popping up in the most vibrant fashion once more. That alone is something that deserves celebration and admiration 🌸🌼🌸

Eurasian Skylark (Alauda arvensis)🪶

Latest taxidermy project complete! A first for me, too…

Such a beloved species, their song is the perfect antidote for a cold, winters day! Brimming with optimism for warmer days ☀️

I enjoyed being up close and personal with their unusually murderous back talon!!! Of course, they don’t use it for any such act…it’s believed it helps their balance, as they are mostly a ground dwelling bird…a bit like us wearing snow shoes to get around easier in certain climes I suppose!

A very interesting species indeed, I feel honoured to have worked with this one! He’s now on his way to be displayed in an educational setting, to hi-light the need and importance to preserve this endangered jewel in our skies 🫶🏻

It’s what’s on the inside that counts 💖

Sometimes I like how the internal taxidermy form turns out just as much as the finished article with the skin on!

I couldn’t resist taking a quick snap of the fawn form in its natural habitat 🌱

I always like to hand-make my taxidermy forms. It gives me full creativity over the pose and creates something as unique as the specimen is 🦌

Plus…the dimensions will be accurate to the body, which eliminates me having to spend ages modifying a commercial form! I’ve never had much luck with them.

So, with that - enjoy the bare bones of this little guy💀 I can’t wait to share with you the finished piece…be prepared to go ‘awwwwww’!

Here I am, getting round to posting some stills of the gorgeous waxwing I worked on recently ✨

I hope you don’t mind the visual refresh, too - spring is a time for renewal after all! 🌸 (plus I don’t care about algorithms anymore, I’m doing what makes me happy 😂)

As mentioned in my previous reel, it was a bit of a challenge putting this one together because of the damage it incurred during impact, but I’m just so happy I got the opportunity to get to work with this species on such an intimate level.

The berries I also enjoyed making and are hand-cast from a local rowan tree last autumn 🍂

I had to re-post the beautiful (& bizarre) waxy red details of the wing tips their name derives from, too! Just, howww?! Nature amazes me every single day. 🌱

I hope you’ve all been lucky enough to experience some warmth on your face from the spring sunshine over the past few days, hopefully there’s more to come! ☀️

A sneak peek of a veeeeery sweet specimen I’m working with this week 🦌

I’ve had quite a slow start to the year (not intentionally, although I do like mimicking the seasons and slowing down this time of year anyway 😴) because of illness and such, but I’m finally back in my happy place! 😌

Couldn’t resist sharing the gentle nature of this fawn, captured in those little tootsies ❤️

I’m on body building duties today for this little one and as I type this, I’m having a cuppa tea/procrastination break in the warm house, desperately trying to find the motivation to embrace the grey, cold, sideways drizzle on the journey to my workshop to carry on! ☔️🥶

New blog post just up - I want to say a big thank you to all of my clients this year and a very Merry Christmas to you all! Thank you so much for being here ☺️🎄🎅

As another year is tip-toeing in to another, I wanted to reflect and recap on all of the wonderful projects I have worked on in 2025 before I close the […]

Here is a lovely example of the smallest bird in Britain - the Goldcrest (holding the joint record with the Firecrest, of course!) 💛

At this size, weighing no more than 5 grams (the weight of a 20p), it’s mind blowing how these little gems migrate over the stormy North Sea, joining our resident population to escape harsh Scandi winters! 🤯

So unbelievable…that back in the day; it was genuinely believed they migrated here on the back of woodcock!

I thought this post was sort of rather apt to add to the festivities, as they’re often seen flitting around in evergreens like firs!🌲🎄

A veeery fiddly taxidermy project - I can’t imagine working on something much smaller than this, although I bet this is a walk in the park compared to any of the hummingbird species! 😱

A little hellooo to you all! 👋 with this little update of the Barn Owl I recently completed - I finally got round to taking photos of my work amongst the annual madness that is Christmas prep! 🫠

I never know how specimens are going to turn out and there’s so much that can go wrong (and HAS gone very wrong as of late!) through no fault of my own, but just the very fact that working with biological, decomposing materials makes for volatile success rates.

BUT, that wasn’t the case with this taxidermy project and I just love the expression that popped out at me whilst I was modelling his face. A certified ‘cheekie chappie’ 🦉!

This piece is a commission, is displayed as an example of my work and not for sale.

Totally forgot to post photos of this beautiful Buzzard that I recently completed! (Example of my taxidermy work and not for sale)

He had a few issues due to impact injury, but generally turned out handsome and is now safely returned home 💙

Something that I come across quite frequently working with roadkill, is broken bones that I retain in the mount where I can, so this has prompted me to create an emergency wing repair kit for easy access! 🩹

Also, I can’t ignore the fact that it’s Halloween at time of writing, so I hope everyone has a spooky time tonight! After taking a moment to honour my ancestors, both near and far in space time, I’ll probably be snuggling up in a warm blanket with popcorn and a spooky film with a sprinkle of pumpkin spice somewhere along the line!🍿🎃👻

I have been working on this sweet Barn Owl (a roadkill find) this week 🤍

There’s a certain magic moment in the taxidermy process, normally whilst I’m modelling the face, where the skin becomes a ‘someone’ again, looking back at you as if life has once again returned to the vessel.

This sweet barn owl had such a strong character come through and it really made my heart smile and I hope it makes yours smile, too! ☺️

(This is an example of my work and is not for sale)
