Those early years bring a lot of change.

HealthCheck360 for Young Pets gives an experienced veterinary nurse time to look at how your puppy or kitten is growing and developing, while supporting you with the everyday care that helps them get off to a healthy start.

Their check can cover growth, weight and nutrition, vaccinations, behaviour and socialisation, alongside a full physical examination.

You can also get practical coaching on things like teeth brushing, ear cleaning, and nail clipping.

🦷🐶 Healthy teeth, happy dogs!

Dental problems can cause bad breath, painful gums, tartar and difficulty eating. Professional dental treatment can help keep your dog’s mouth healthy and comfortable.

✨ Don’t ignore the signs — book a dental check with your vet! ✨

🦷🐶 Why dental treatment can be so important for an older dog

Dental disease isn’t just about bad breath. For an elderly dog, painful or infected teeth and gums can have a real impact on their quality of life.

❤️ Dental treatment can help by:

• Reducing pain – Diseased, loose or infected teeth can be extremely painful, even when a dog doesn’t show obvious signs.

• Helping them eat more comfortably – Treating painful teeth and gums can make eating and chewing much easier.

• Reducing infection and inflammation – Advanced dental disease can cause infection around the teeth and gums. Removing diseased teeth and cleaning the mouth can help address these problems.

• Improving their quality of life – A dog that has been quietly living with mouth pain may become more comfortable, happier and more interested in food and everyday activities after treatment.

• Helping with bad breath – Persistent bad breath is often a sign of dental disease. Treating the underlying problem can make a significant difference.

• Preventing dental disease from getting worse – Early treatment can prevent painful dental problems from progressing further.

🐾 And what about a very old dog?

Being elderly does not automatically mean dental treatment is unsafe. Your vet can assess your dog’s overall health and individual anaesthetic risk before deciding whether treatment is appropriate. Blood tests and other checks may be recommended, and the anaesthetic and monitoring can be tailored to the individual dog.

There are risks with any anaesthetic, particularly in older dogs, but untreated dental disease can also carry risks and cause ongoing pain.

The goal isn’t simply to treat the teeth — it’s to help an older dog live their remaining years as comfortably and happily as possible. ❤️🐾
