A very difficult goodbye ❤️

I never thought I’d be writing this, but after a lot of thought, tears and some very difficult decisions, I’ve made the heartbreaking decision to close my business.

This business has been such a huge part of my life. It’s given me so many wonderful memories, allowed me to meet some truly lovely people, and has been something I’ve poured so much of my heart, time and energy into.

But over the past while, I’ve been struggling with my health, and I’ve had to be honest with myself about what I need going forward.

I’ve realised that I need to put my health and wellbeing first and find a quieter, slower way of life. As difficult as that is to accept, I know deep down that it’s the right decision for me.

Closing my business feels like saying goodbye to a part of myself, and that hurts more than I can put into words. There have been so many highs, challenges, laughs, memories and special moments along the way. ❤️

To every single customer who has supported me, believed in me, recommended me, followed my journey or simply stopped for a chat — thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Your support has meant more to me than you will ever know. You’ve made this journey so incredibly special, and I will carry those memories with me for a very long time.

I’m sad. I’m emotional. And if I’m honest, I’m a little scared about what comes next. But I’m also hoping that this next chapter brings me some peace, time to focus on myself and the chance to live life at a gentler pace.

So this isn’t just goodbye to my business. It’s goodbye to a very special chapter of my life — one that I will always look back on with enormous pride, love and gratitude.

Thank you for everything. Thank you for believing in me. And thank you for being part of my journey. ❤️

With all my love,
**Sally atkinson ** 🥹❤️

🐾 The Truth About Prey Drive – Part 6

Terriers: Small Dogs, Big Attitudes & Fearless Determination

By Simon Chapman

If you’ve ever lived with a Terrier, you’ll know one thing…

They have absolutely no idea they’re small!

Terriers weren’t bred to be lap dogs. They were bred to hunt vermin, work underground and never give up. That incredible determination, confidence and persistence are exactly what made them such outstanding working dogs.

So when your Terrier digs up the garden, investigates every hole or refuses to abandon an interesting scent, they’re not being “naughty” or “stubborn”…

They’re expressing behaviours that generations of selective breeding have encouraged.

The answer isn’t to fight those instincts.

It’s to channel them.

Scent work, tracking, puzzle-solving, structured play and appropriate digging opportunities can give Terriers the mental and physical outlet they were bred for.

Remember…

Genetics give us the blueprint. Training shapes the outcome.

🐾 Coming up in Part 7…

We’ll compare Sighthounds and Scent Hounds, two incredible groups of dogs that hunt in completely different ways. One trusts its eyes. The other trusts its nose.

⚠️ Possible Parvo Cases – Please Stay Alert ⚠️

There’s been a post circulating locally suggesting that canine parvovirus may be present in the area. I haven’t been able to independently verify this, but it’s something worth being aware of—especially for puppies and unvaccinated dogs.

What is parvo?
A highly contagious virus that affects the gut and immune system. It can spread through contact with infected dogs, faeces, or contaminated ground/surfaces.

Signs to look out for:
• Severe lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea (often bloody and very smelly)
• Fever or low body temperature

How to reduce risk:
• Keep vaccinations up to date
• Avoid areas with lots of unknown dogs (especially for puppies)
• Don’t let dogs sniff or ingest faeces
• Wash hands/shoes after walks if concerned

If your dog shows any of the above symptoms, contact your vet immediately—early treatment can make a huge difference.

I’ll update if anything is confirmed locally, but in the meantime it’s always better to be cautious.
