A huge congratulations to Skye the Spanish Water Dog & his owners Heike & Trevor for passing their UDT Gold Gundog Award!

Today, Skye excelled himself by calmly completing the double dummy launch exercise & doing a Walk Up with another dog. He has previously been reactive in this scenario but his owners have worked very hard to overcome this. Today he nailed it all, remained steady & respectfully honoured the other dogs retrieves! Well done 😁

WHAT IS A SCURRY?
A scurry is a FUN & FRIENDLY, timed event, to test a dog's ability to retrieve objects, usually dummies, in the fastest time possible.

For the extension to the Royal Isle of Wight County Show Canine Area Dog Scurry & Fun Show, on 8th August 2026 4pm - 7.30pm, we will be running 3 x Scurries.

OPEN to all DOG BREEDS

ENTRIES are on the day
£1 per RUN (Cash only)
Buy your SCURRY TICKETS at the Enclosure Entrance Table & pass to the Timekeeper as you enter each arena.

Total RUNS may be limited to 5 per dog, depending on number of entries.

After weeks of preparation and just like that, it's all over - Game Fair 2026!

A huge thank you to The Working Minority Retriever Club and the dedication of Judy for making it happen & giving us the opportunity to showcase our beautiful breeds.

We started the weekend with demonstrations on Friday & Saturday in the Working Dog Ring with three of us from UDT - Julie, Sharon & myself. Lots of lovely get togethers & sharing our experiences.

Today, Olive & I were part of The Curly Coated Retriever Clubs Working Team, competing in The Minority Gundog Breed Challenge. Thank you to Gamekeepers Goods for sponsoring our team.

It was an amazing experience, we should be very proud - each of us scored a 20 & a 19!! There's always things that don't go so well but wow, it was amazing! We couldn't have stood beside a lovelier team, Jeannette with litter sister, Marion and Bea with Edgar. All of our dogs are 3 years old.

Our amazing Retriever Puppy Group all passed the first UDT Bronze exercise this morning! It included Heel, Wait & Return and Wait & Recall to whistle. All completed it perfectly!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩

What an amazing weekend we had at the Royal Isle of Wight County Show - the UDT Display Team did us proud in the Main Ring on both days. Showcasing how we train our gundogs by demonstrating different exercises for retrievers, spaniels and a GSP. Thankfully there was a nice breeze throughout which helped us to cope with the heat.

The show was full of great attractions, livestock, stalls and everything that celebrated this amazing island, it was an honor to be a part of it!

We did not run our two scurries over the weekend due to the high temperatures and instead we will be organising a SCURRY & FUN SHOW EVENING during August, where rosettes and prizes kindly sponsored by Ci - really good dog food Gamekeepers Goods and Pureflax will be awarded.
