1:1 Taster Session for Scent Detection for Hugo. It's lovely to see this lovely boy coming out of his shell. Took him a bit to trust the space, but he has a good nose and moved around nicely in the search area.
Big thanks to Becky for her help instructing today!

1:1 sessions on Friday:
We started with Peanut and I was so engrossed in her searches, that I didn't take any videos!! Next time, I promise
Then came Hunter, first time searcher and you wouldn't know, he looked like a professional with all the check-steps.
Next up was Alice. She is usually a shy girl, but yesterday she was on fire. We even did some indication work with her and she smashed it!
Then Nova and Hugo were booked in for a sniff session. Nova had a quick go but then we had to postpone due to an emergency. We'll get to finish off where we stopped soon.
Last dog of the day was wonderful Bowie, another first timer. Oh my God, what a brilliant nose he has got and determination galore. Can't wait to see him in class. He needed a minute to adapt after arrival, but once he knew what we were doing, he was all game.

Can't wait to see you all again.
New term of Scent Detection classes (4.45pm, 6pm and 7.15pm) will be starting on Thursday 29.10.2026.

Wednesday 1:1 sessions
The day started with a Barry walk including a doggy shopping trip, he insisted on.
Then we had the gorgeous Dougal here for Scent Detection and boy did he do well for a first timer!
Then it was Bailey's turn. Who doesn't love a hound with a brilliant nose?! He was working his little socks off and he loved the ball pit ;-)
Next was Sadie. She arrived really worried and didn't want to leave her mum, but once she started sniffing, the hall became a less scary place.
Well done to all 4 doggies!!

Look at little Hunter! This is his 2nd Scent Detection session. He is a bit overwhelmed with the world and finds that barking at people helps him to keep them at bay. He loves his new mummy (rehomed not that long ago), doesn't want to leave her side and is shouting a lot at everyone.
Scent Detection helps him building his confidence. Look at the first video where he is looking for tasty food. He does it, but is not convinced (hesitant movement, weight shifts, posture, lip licks etc) and then compare it to the video in the hall for a toy later in the same session. We are making great progress and his new family are doing a great job practicing the homework games.
Success, yeahhh!!!!

Monday's 1:1s were little Bran and lovely Barry.
Bran needs to understand where good dogs do pees and poos and Barry is having so much energy which we channeled with some training games into better choices
Training was hard work, both dogs fast asleep afterwards ;-)
