The BARN Animal Rescue is a haven for animals in need. We promote animal welfare within Northern Ireland, we rescue & re-home; we tend and we care. At our rescue based in Carrowdore, County Down; we care for rescued cats and dogs. We also have dogs that have permanent residency and found their forever home here at the BARN. 🐾❤️ MARGE IS WAITING FOR HER FOREVER… ❤️🐾

Just look at this beautiful little face. 🥹❤️

Meet Marge, our gorgeous 11-week-old American Bulldog puppy, and like every puppy who comes through our doors, she deserves to grow up knowing what it feels like to be truly loved, safe and home. 🏡🐾

At just 11 weeks old, Marge has her whole life ahead of her. She hasn’t yet discovered all the adventures waiting for her, learned all the things a big girl needs to know, or found the person who will become her world.

We want that person to be out there looking for her. ❤️

Marge is a typical young puppy — playful, curious, full of potential and ready to learn. But with that little bundle of puppy love comes a big commitment. Her new family must be prepared for toilet training, basic commands, socialisation, boundaries, training and all the patience that comes with raising a puppy.

And remember, that tiny puppy face is going to grow into a strong and powerful American Bulldog, so her future family needs to understand the responsibility involved in raising a large breed and be committed to her for every stage of her life. 🐶❤️

✨ Marge is:
🐾 11 weeks old
🐾 Fully vaccinated
🐾 Able to live with another dog, pending a successful meeting
🐾 Able to live with dog-savvy children aged 8+
🐾 To be spayed by one of our vets as part of her adoption process

Marge doesn’t need someone who simply falls in love with her little face — although we completely understand how easy that is! 🥹

She needs someone who will fall in love with the dog she will become. Someone who will patiently guide her, teach her, encourage her, set boundaries, celebrate her progress and be there through the muddy paws, chewed toys, puppy mischief and everything in between.

Most importantly, she needs someone who will promise her that this really is forever. ❤️

Meet Buddy 🐾

Buddy is a gorgeous 8-year-old Chocolate Labrador who has the sweetest, most fun-loving personality. When Buddy first came into our care, he was sadly very skinny and in poor body condition. Since arriving with us, he has been receiving the care, attention and nourishment he needs, and we’re delighted to see him steadily gaining weight and condition.

Despite everything he has been through, Buddy is full of life and absolutely loves having fun. Just take a look at his beach video and you’ll see what we mean! Watching Buddy running along the beach, enjoying himself and being a happy Labrador is a lovely reminder of the character he has underneath it all. He really is a fun-loving boy who deserves the chance to enjoy life.

Buddy has also been treated for an ear haematoma, which he has coped with very well. We are currently carrying out some further investigations into his health, and these are ongoing. Any necessary investigations and treatment relating to his current medical issues will be covered by The Barn while these matters are being worked through.

We are now hoping to find Buddy a kind, compassionate and understanding family who will see beyond his medical history and give him the loving home he deserves. Our hope is that Buddy can become a much-loved member of the family and, most importantly, be part of the home rather than simply a dog who lives alongside it.

Buddy will follow our normal rehoming process, including the usual checks and matching process. However, because of his ongoing medical investigations, The Barn will continue to have input into and responsibility for his current medical issues until these are resolved. We want to make sure Buddy and his new family have the support they need throughout this period.

Buddy has already shown us what a wonderful, happy and resilient boy he is. Now he needs someone to show him just how good life can be.

💗 Myla: A Special Girl Looking for a Very Special Home 💗

Please read Myla’s post fully before applying, as her needs are important and we want to make sure we find the right match for this beautiful girl.

Sometimes the dogs who need us most are the ones who need us to look a little deeper. ❤️

Meet Myla, a beautiful three-year-old Cocker Spaniel who is desperately hoping that someone will see beyond the few challenges she has and recognise the incredibly sweet girl underneath.

Myla is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped and is looking for a home where she can finally feel safe, understood and loved.

🏡 Myla must be the only animal in the home. She cannot live with another dog.
👧 She can live with dog-savvy children aged 14 years and over.

Myla is an absolute sweetheart with the people she trusts, and she is a firm favourite amongst our volunteers. There is so much potential in this girl, but she needs someone who is prepared to give her the time and patience she deserves.

One of Myla’s challenges is that she can be reactive towards other dogs when out on walks, which we believe may stem from negative experiences in her past. Because of this, her new family will need to understand her needs and be committed to continuing the work that has already begun.

Myla has been working with a trainer, who thinks she is extremely clever and that her issues are very workable with time, consistency and patience. ❤️

She has also been muzzle trained and is comfortable wearing her muzzle. We would strongly recommend that her new family continues to use it when out walking, particularly while she settles into her new life. It provides an added layer of safety and reassurance for everyone and allows Myla to enjoy her walks without unnecessary risk or worry.

🐾 Myla’s new family will need to be prepared to visit her several times before she leaves for her forever home. We know this takes commitment, but Myla is worth it. We want her new person or family to take the time to build that relationship, understand her and, most importantly, allow her to show them who she really is.

She isn’t looking for someone who expects perfection.

She is looking for someone who will give her a chance. Someone patient enough to see past her difficulties, dedicated enough to continue her training, and kind enough to understand that trust takes time.

Once Myla knows you and feels safe, you will see the sweet, loving girl that our volunteers have come to adore. 🥹❤️

We truly believe there is a very special home out there for this very special girl.

Forever home wanted for this lovely ginger boy, Spice 🐈
This handsome 8 year old boy has been with us sometime now and we think its time he moved into his own home.
He is such a chatty, sociable boy, loves company and enjoys having people around.
He really needs someone who can give him the love and companionship he has been patiently waiting for and he will give as much love back.
He also seems very comfortable around the other cats at the Rescue and has happily lived with another cat before.
Spice does take 1 tablet per day to keep him healthy and this just goes in his food.

Say hello to Pippa, our gorgeous two-and-a-half-year-old Frenchie, who is now ready to start looking for her forever home. 🏡🐾

Pippa has received her first vaccination and is microchipped. As part of the adoption process, Pippa will also be spayed by one of our vets.

🐶 Pippa can live with another dog, pending a successful meeting, and she can live with children aged 8 years and over.

Now all Pippa needs is that special family who will give her the love, patience and care she deserves and show her just how wonderful life in a forever home can be. ❤️

Ruari has sadly come to the Barn after his beloved owner passed away.
He is an affectionate chatty boy who enjoyed an indoor outdoor lifestyle.
He is still young and so would love to find a forever home.
We don’t know how he is with other cats or dogs but his nature seems like he would be fine with children 6 plus.

We honestly can’t understand why this gorgeous boy hasn’t had a single application. 💔

Ice is such a sweet-natured, loving boy and, like every dog in our care, he is simply waiting for someone to see him and think, “Yes, I could be his person.” ❤️

Sometimes all it takes is one person to give a dog a chance — and we truly believe that person is out there for Ice. He doesn’t need everyone to apply… he just needs one special family to see what we see in him. 🐾

💙 Cody is still waiting… and he really shouldn’t have to wait much longer. 💙

Meet Cody, our lovely 12-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who has been with us for a while now, patiently waiting for someone to see what a special boy he is. 🐾

At 12 years old, Cody isn’t looking for a life full of chaos or endless adventures. What he deserves is something much simpler — a quiet, loving home where he can finally settle in, feel safe and spend his golden years being thoroughly spoiled. 🏡❤️

Cody is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, and he would love a peaceful retirement home where he can enjoy the little things in life: a comfy bed, a sunny garden, gentle walks and most importantly, people who will love him for the wonderful boy he is.

Cody would prefer to be the only dog in the home and would be ideally suited to a quieter, older household where he can enjoy a calm routine and plenty of love and attention.

💔 We know 12-year-old dogs can sometimes be overlooked, but Cody has just as much love to give as any younger dog. His age shouldn’t mean he has to spend his remaining years waiting in rescue.
