Just a normal day at the falconry centre... apparently. 🦅☕
Dylan the White-tailed Eagle and Kailani the Bald Eagle have now officially escalated their jealousy to levels I normally only witness at home between my children. Apparently, eagles are just toddlers with sharper accessories.
Neither of them will tolerate me walking past without screaming for attention.
So, after completely re-juggling the weathering area and moving them both out of sight of each other in an attempt to stop the rivalry (and my rapidly developing migraine), I thought I was finally one step ahead.
Nope.
They were obviously unaware of the new seating arrangements.
Dylan started the day by delivering his usual morning slap to the face, just to keep me humble.
Kailani then nearly had a nervous breakdown because a particularly aggressive leaf blew in her general direction.
After my daily emotional support meeting with two giant eagles, both birds are sitting silently in their new areas, each apparently convinced the other no longer exists.
At this point, I decided it was time for coffee and admin because I genuinely felt like I was winning today.
Surely nothing could go wrong while sitting quietly with a laptop...
Now, normal people can drink coffee and use a laptop at the same time.
I, however, appear to possess a special talent.
As the photo demonstrates:
✅ Laptop has gone swimming
✅ Coffee is back inside the cupboard in a different form
✅ Floor has had a complimentary wash
✅️ my phone and radio are fully caffeinated
❌ Admin has not been completed
I seriously think I don't just have bad days — I have bad weeks.
Dylan the baby is teething, so between the lack of sleep, daily slaps from feathered toddlers, and now the complete lack of coffee, the struggle is real.
My husband's support throughout this difficult time has been invaluable.
By "support", I mean standing there in hysterical laughter while I attempted to rescue a drowned laptop and a caffeinated radio. 🙄
Oh, and to the private number that rang me at 10:30 this morning... could you ring back please?
My son hung up on you. 🤦♀️
