Notice to client’s

Tuesday 23rd - Wednesday 24th June we will be holding an Emergency clinic only. This is for our new practice management system that is being installed.
We will be available on the phones for assistance on 522822 throughout this time.

Our team have been working hard behind the scenes ready for the new computer system, in hopes of making this as smooth a transition as we can.

We had a absolutely wonderful delivery from a client recently.
This beautiful cake was given to us from CJ and her owner, after what can only be described as a very eventful life event.
CJ spent a fair amount of time with our team recovering from a very traumatic episode, but she was one strong willed girl and against all the odds pushed through and made a full recovery.
We couldn’t be prouder of how far she had come. It’s cases like these that stay in our hearts.
So here is a big thank you to CJ and her owner for the delicious treat we feel very spoiled 😊

And then there were two... 🦉💚

Our second wild barn owl chick arrived into our care last week after being found alone and unable to fend for itself.

Before coming to us, the tiny youngster spent a
night with The Carisbrooke Vets receiving much-needed fluids and supportive care. Once stable enough, he was passed into our team's care for rehabilitation.
When this little one first arrived, he was incredibly weak and shut down. 💔

Our team were very concerned, and for the first few days it really was touch and go.
Feeding was especially challenging, as he simply didn't seem to have the strength or instinct to swallow.

But with round-the-clock care, perseverance, and a whole lot of TLC, we're delighted to say this little fighter has started to turn a corner. 💚

We're so happy to report that he is now eating independently and has even joined our first rescued barn owl chick in the indoor flight aviary, where the pair can continue to grow and develop together before one day returning to the wild.💪

Thanks to the power of Facebook we were able to reunite this boy with his family. It was not the reunion we would have liked, but we were able to get him home. Sweet dreams little man

Found

We are sad to report we have had a large short hair all black, neutered male cat bought into the Carisbrooke Clinic. He was found on Beatrice Avenue East Cowes. He has unfortunately passed away.
We are hoping the power of Facebook may help us locate his owner as he was not microchipped. The only identifying feature is a red collar with a reflective strip.
Please share so we can hopefully find his family

We have sadly had a black and white female domestic short haired cat brought into us that has sadly passed away on arrival . This puss has no microchip or collar. Found in the Chillerton area. Please call 522822 if you think this could be your cat. Photos will be required for proof of ownership

Due to reduced staff levels we are reducing the opening hours of our Sandown branch.
Please be aware that if you would like to collect medications from Sandown that the practice will only be open on Monday or Tuesday next week.
Collection from Newport will be available as usual.

Well so far day two of the bank holiday weekend is the heatwave we were told it would be. ☀️

Just a reminder again watch out for your companions out in the heat. One missed walk is better than suffering from heat stroke. If the pavement is too hot for your hands, it’s too hot for paws.

If you do need to travel with your pets make sure you have plenty of water to keep hydrated and stick to the shaded areas as much as you can. Especially for our brachycephalic breeds who find this weather especially difficult.

We are closed again tomorrow for the Bank holiday Monday, but are available for any emergencies you have on 522822.
Normal clinic hours resume on Tuesday 26th May

☀️ weather reminder ☀️

As we all know the temperature is getting very hot this bank holiday weekend. 🌡️

Please do not walk your dogs between 10am and 4pm, stick to early mornings and late evenings (before 8am and after 8pm)

Your primary focus should be avoiding heatstroke and burnt paws. 🐾 if the ground is too hot for you to hold your bare hand for 5 seconds then it is too hot for your dog and will burn.
Please stick to grassy shaded areas if possible.

🔴 Heatstroke can be fatal. Watch your dog closely for excessive or loud panting, thick/sticky drool, bright red gums, vomiting, diarrhoea, staggering, or collapse. 🔴

Brachycephalic breeds (french bulldogs, shih tzu) are especially sensitive to the heat as are our older pooches!
