🐾💕 FLEAS & TICKS — LITTLE PESTS, BIG PROBLEMS! 💕🐾

No one likes talking about fleas and ticks 😩… but keeping an eye out for them is an important part of looking after your pup! 🐶

So, what should you be checking for? 👀
🐾 Excessive scratching, licking or biting
🐾 Red or irritated skin
🐾 Tiny black specks in the coat (flea dirt)
🐾 Small lumps attached to the skin, which could be ticks
🐾 Scabs, sore patches or unusual hair loss
🐾 Your dog seeming more restless than usual

💕 TOP TIP: Regularly run your hands through your dog’s coat and check around the ears, neck, armpits, tummy, between the toes and around the tail. A flea comb can also help you spot fleas or flea dirt.

🌳 After walks, especially through long grass, woodland or fields, give your dog a quick tick check when you get home.

Found fleas? 🦟
Speak to your vet about an appropriate flea treatment for your dog, and remember that fleas can also live in bedding, carpets and soft furnishings — so the home may need treating too.

Found a tick? 🕷️
Ticks should be removed correctly with an appropriate tick-removal tool. If you’re unsure how to remove one, or your dog becomes unwell following a tick bite, contact your vet for advice.

And remember — prevention is much easier than dealing with an infestation! 💗 Keep up with vet-recommended parasite prevention, wash bedding regularly and check your pup often.
